NEO-COLONIAL PEACE: HOW THE 2025 DEAL UNDERMINES PALESTINIAN RIGHTS
The new Gaza ceasefire deal, signed on October 13, 2025, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, under Donald Trump’s “Gaza Peace Plan,” is being praised as a breakthrough. But in truth, it repeats the same old mistakes that have failed for decades.
The plan focuses on demilitarizing Gaza and putting it under foreign control, while Israel keeps full security powers. This means Palestinians lose even more say over their own land and lives. By forcing Gaza to disarm while Israel stays armed, the deal treats Palestinian resistance as the only problem, ignoring the real causes of violence, like the ongoing blockade and occupation.
Even worse, the plan gives control of Gaza’s reconstruction to an international “Board of Peace,” possibly led by Tony Blair, a man many call a war criminal for his role in Iraq. This board would manage Gaza’s economy, security, and aid with foreign troops, turning Palestine into a neo-colonial experiment rather than a free nation.
Billions in “aid” are promised, but under strict Western oversight. Gaza risks becoming a controlled economic zone instead of an independent homeland. True peace cannot come from top-down deals that ignore justice. It can only come when Palestinians gain real freedom, equality, and self-determination, not when outsiders decide their future.
