Naira Marley and his crew publicly mistreated Mohbad. He was threatened and bullied even while he was sick. In a radio interview, Mohbad revealed that Marley's record label kept portraying him as mentally unstable before show promoters and corporate bodies who wanted to hire him for a show.
He is now dead.
And according to multiple reports, less than 24 hours after his death, his family members were already plotting how to scheme his wife out of his property.
No single soul who has commented on this has tried to make it about the yorubas hating themselves or yoruba culture supporting maltreatment of widows.
Now for a second, imagine that the above characters were Igbos!
All the discussions would be on how Igbos don't like themselves and how their culture is against women and widows.
The irony is, it would be Igbos themselves leading the discussion. Yes, Igbos. Not any other ethnic group. You'd be reading things like: "although I am Igbo but I have to be honest, our pe0ple are bad yen yen yen....."
N'ezie, "Ịfe ólú melu Igbo dị ofu mana ife Igbo melu ọnwe fa di asaa".
The lesson here is simple:
Individual human or family greed and inhuman acts should not be generalized as a reflection of a whole people or ethnic group. If your family treated you badly, it is your family that is the problem, not your entire ethnic group and certainly not their culture.
