My name is Kemi. I am 34 years old. I live in Abeokuta and I sell provisions in front of my house.
Three years ago, my husband lost his job. At first, I didn’t complain. I supported him. I used my small business to feed the family. I paid school fees and house rent.
Months passed. One year passed. My husband stopped looking for work. He started staying out late. When I asked questions, he would shóút at me.
One evening, I overheard him on the phone telling someone, Don't worry, I will settle you.
I was imagining who he was talking to, but couldn't ask him to avoid issues.
Later, I found out he had borrowed money from many people using my business as promise. I knew nothing about it.
One morning, people came to my shop. They said my husband owed them money. They started collecting my goods. Rice, noodles, oil, everything.
I ran inside and asked my husband. He said, You are my wife. What is yours is mine.
That day, I críéd until I had no téàrs.
I reported to my family. They called him. He didn’t deny it. He said I should calm down.
Today, my shop is empty. My children are at home because I cannot pay school fees. My husband is still promising to fix everything.
Now I am cónfúséd.
Should I forgive him and rebuild again, or should I walk away.
What would you do if you were me?
