As an Ikwerre man I can boldly tell you that we use the OFO/OWHOR Igbo traditional symbol of justice equity and fairness which is the highest symbol of authority in Igbo land. Only people who don't use the Ọfọ can claim they're not Igbo.
As an Ikwerre man, we practice the Igbo AGE GRADE SYSTEM and no other tribe in Nigeria observes it except Igbos not even the bini's, it is an ancient Igbo practice in all Igbo speaking extractions including OGBA, EKPEYE and several other Igbo settlements Anioma Delta State and Igbanke Igbo settlements in Edo State Nigeria.
As an Ikwerre man, we practice the Omennali Igbo spirituality and religion, it is our way of life. Contrary to some mischievous speculation by some revisionist (aimed at distorting our Igbo heritage) that some Igbo women married to Ikwerre men introduced the Omennali practice in our land is not only insulting but a deliberate attempt to mislead our people for their political aims.
As an Ikwerre man, we practice the Igbo four market days namely EKE ORIE AFOR NKWO, it is more spiritual than your eyes can see, anyone who practice this culture is an Igbo man. To elaborate, the four market days (Eke, Orie, Afor, and Nkwo) are not just days of the week but are deeply intertwined with their cosmology and spirituality. Each day is associated with specific deities and elements, influencing various aspects of life, including rituals, social gatherings, and economic activities and we the Ikwerres observes it maximally.
As an Ikwerre man, we pray with the kolanut and also use it to welcome our visitors as Igbo culture demands. In furtherance, the kola nut (oji Igbo) is a powerful symbol of communion, respect, hospitality, and unity. It's an indispensable part of social and ritual practices, playing a role in everything from welcoming guests to settling disputes and invoking blessings.
As an Ikwerre man, we practice the inter community wrestling tournament with the champion being referred as Dimkpa or AGU Nwoke/Woke (Leopard man).
As an Ikwerre man, I speak the Igbo dialect of Ikwerre and understand the central language of the Igbo and same goes to other Igbo extractions outside and within the South East. No single Igbo extraction can lay claim of the central Igbo language. It is the collection of several Igbo dialects that makes up the central Igbo language.
ONLY PEOPLE WHO DON'T PRACTICE THE ABOVE FUNDAMENTAL IGBO CULTURE CAN BOLDLY SAY THEY'RE NOT IGBO AND I WILL NEVER ARGUE WITH THEM.
I still remain the Ikwerre Right Activists from Rumuewhor community in Emohua LGA Rivers State. Igbo mmamanu! Ikwerre Anu Meka!
