WRITE THE VISION. MAKE IT PLAIN.

As we step into June, I am carrying gratitude and reflection from the successful 4th edition of TimeBender Fest Children’s Day Fiesta & Learning Party.

Planning TimeBender Fest always teaches me something new, but this year came with some powerful reminders.

1. The beauty of having people in your corner.
Not from a place of entitlement but from the deep gratitude of seeing people come together to support a vision they believe in. TimeBender Fest reminded me again that a strong support system is priceless.

2. Vision gives people something to gather around.
People cannot run with what they cannot see. If you want support, you must first be clear about what you are building. The clearer the vision becomes, the easier it is for others to understand, connect, and contribute.

3. Growth is built one brick at a time.
This year, we premiered our new animated spin-off, Jega’s Detective Agency, and it was such a beautiful moment watching the children engage with the story, the mystery, and the characters. We also showcased more of the TimeBender ecosystem through our merchandise, including our school bag sets. Every new product, every new story, every new child reached is another brick in the ecosystem we are building.

4. Sometimes, you must also pause and celebrate yourself.
I showed up not just as the convener, but as a woman deeply proud of what she is building. I loved how I looked. I loved how I felt. I loved the joy, colour, confidence, and purpose I carried into the room. Sometimes, after all the hard work, you must allow yourself to feel the beauty of the moment.

Bonus lesson: Do not lose sight of your goal.
After the event, I found myself worrying about things that could have gone differently, but then a dear friend reminded me to stay focused on my goals because the world is very noisy and it is so easy to get distracted by what is happening around you. But sometimes, you have to pause and ask yourself:
What is my goal?
What is my endpoint?
Where am I going with this?
Write the vision. Make it plain. Then keep returning to it.

TimeBender Fest 4.0 was everything it was because these amazing people came together with heart, energy, ideas, vibes, resources, and pure commitment.

They showed up. They supported. They carried the vision like it was their own. They put in the time, the effort, the laughter, the late nights, the running around, and the love that made it happen.

Today is Children’s Day.

And while we celebrate, I find myself holding two truths at once.

One truth is joy: children deserve laughter, colour, music, games, stories, animation, learning, dancing, friendship, creativity, and safe spaces where they can simply be children.

The other truth is grief: in our country, too many children are still unsafe. Too many families are carrying fear. Too many children have had their childhood interrupted by violence, insecurity, displacement, and kidnapping.

So today, I ask: Can we really say “Happy Children’s Day?"

At TimeBender Fest 4.0 Children’s Day Fiesta & Learning Party, held on Saturday, 23rd May at The Arena, GRA, Port Harcourt, we chose to create a space where children could feel seen, celebrated, supported, and safe.

It was a wholesome family party filled with learning games, dance battles, animation, marketplace experiences, performances, and the TimeBender Fest Talent Discovery Competition.

Wonder of God Emmanuel, a young saxophonist, emerged winner and received ₦200,000 through the Children’s Creative Grant. Other runners-up also received cash prizes to support their creative journeys.

The Children’s Creative Grant is our contribution, through Amaranthine Media, to ensuring that talented children receive encouragement, visibility, and support early.

Because children do not only need to be entertained.
They need to be protected.
They need to be nurtured.
They need safety.
They need joy.

So today, I celebrate the children who danced, sang, played, spoke, created, performed, competed, laughed, learned, and shone at TimeBender Fest.

And I also hold space for every child who could not celebrate today.

May every child be safe.
May every child be found.
May every child be protected
