The Church on fire shall overcome the ongoing persecution.
The Lord Jesus Christ explainined that our peace is only in Him, warning clearly:
“In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33
Persecution in the early Church was brutal, visible, and openly hostile.
Believers were imprisoned, beaten, and even killed for their faith.
They knew when they were under attack because it was physical and direct.
Yet, through their suffering, they remained steadfast and received crowns of glory.
Today, persecution is subtle, deceptive, and beautifully packaged.
It no longer comes through whips or prisons but through manipulation, distraction, and comfort.
It aims to make believers willingly sin, rebel against God, and lose sight of eternity.
Many Christians today are unaware that Satan is still after their crowns of salvation. The modern Church faces one of the darkest and most dangerous forms of persecution —
spiritual compromise disguised as freedom.
We say we are “free to serve God,” yet many are enslaved by worldly pursuits and ungodly desires. Every day, people are lured or provoked to abandon their faith, blaming God for their mistakes instead of casting their cares upon Him.
The enemy’s first strategy is to exalt materialism above salvation, he glorifies wealth, possessions, and success, making them seem like the ultimate purpose of life.
Through false prophets, teachers, and so-called “motivational speakers”,
Satan preaches the gospel of materialism, carnality, and self-worship —
reviving the ancient doctrines of Jezebel, Balaam, and the Nicolaitans of which Jesus warned the Church.
And because humanity has embraced this lie, Satan now weaponises it through pressure and pleasure.
The poor are pressured to chase wealth at any cost, believing their worth lies in what they own.
The rich are deceived to worship their possessions, indulging in pleasures that dull their sensitivity to God.
In the end, both the rich and the poor are trapped in the same web —
the pressures and pleasures of life, the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches.
Only the wise, the spiritually discerning, and those led by the Holy Spirit will escape.
As Jesus warned:
“What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” — Mark 8:36
Paul also cautioned the Church:
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after,
they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” — 1 Timothy 6:10
And the Lord Himself urges us:
“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
— Colossians 3:2–3
Therefore, the Spirit of God is calling every believer to be watchful. True persecution today may not come through bloodshed — it comes through comfort, compromise, and distraction.
But those who endure, obey, and walk closely with the Holy Spirit will preserve their faith and receive their crown of life. Hold fast your crown. Don’t trade eternity for comfort. Revelation 3:11
