EKITI STATE: ODODO PROMISES FAIR, CREDIBLE PROCESS APC GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has assured of a transparent and credible process in the consensus governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State.

The Governor, in a statement through his Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Ismaila Isah, promised to be fair to all stakeholders and ensure that the exercise reflects unity, peace and internal democracy within the party.

Governor Ododo emphasized that his commitment is to oversee a process that will be acceptable to all stakeholders and party members, noting that the committee under his leadership will uphold the integrity and democratic values of the APC.

Governor Ododo, who chaired the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee in Ondo State in April 2024, expressed confidence that the Ekiti exercise will be peaceful and transparent in line with procedures for internal party democracy.

He stated that fairness and inclusiveness remain the guiding principles of the committee, and reiterated his readiness to deliver a process that will strengthen the unity of the party in Ekiti State.

Recalled, the APC, in a letter signed by its National Organizing Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, announced the appointment of Governor Ododo as Chairman of the Committee to oversee the consensus mode of the governorship primary in Ekiti state.

According to the letter addressed to the APC Chairman in Ekiti State, Hon. Sola Elesin, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, was appointed Deputy Chairman, while Rt. Hon. Taiwo Sunmonu will serve as Secretary.

Other members of the committee include Iyom Nikky Ejezie, Hon. Elis Ihijator Abraham, Hon. Rufus Bature, Hon. Latif Ibirogba, Dr. Chibuzor Nduaguba Agu, Chief Dr. Gabriel Oyibode, Chief Hope D**e, and Engr. Shehu Umaru Dange.

The APC consensus governorship primary election in Ekiti state is scheduled for Monday October 27, 2025.

AKWA IBOM STATE: FUNERAL OF CBN DEPUTY GOVERNOR'S MOTHER: PRESIDENT TINUBU LAUDS GOV ENO'S IMPACTFUL LEADERSHIP

Nigeria's President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has described the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, as a man of remarkable, visionary and impactful leadership.

President Tinubu made the pronouncement during the reception held after the funeral of late Deaconess Eno Nnana Usoro, mother of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor ( Operations), Emem Usoro at Four-Point by Sheraton Hotel, Ikot Ekpene.

Represented by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, he acknowledged Governor Eno's great sense of humility, exemplary leadership, and sense of unity which had led to steady development.

President Tinubu, while commiserating Ms Usoro, noted the exceptional virtues of the late matriarch.

He described the late Deconess Usoro as a great story of grace, faith, generosity and service to humanity as exemplified in her compassion to others by raising her family not just to succeed, but to serve, bequeating her daughter, Ms Emem Usoro as a great legacy of service to the nation.

He described the life of the deceased while on earth as a sermon, her kindness a ministry, and her legacy an inheritance that will outlive her, noting that those who live in service to others never truly die, but are resurrected in every goodness done in their name.

In his remarks, Governor Umo Eno celebrated Ms Usoro on her impressive capacity to draw distinguished Nigerians, including Vice President Shettima, to Akwa Ibom State for the funeral of her mother.

Governor Eno, on behalf of the Government and people of the State, registered his condolences to the Usoro family, urging them to take solace with the fact that their late mother lived an impactful life to the growth of humanity and glory of God.

Governor Eno appreciated Senator Shettima for the love he has for the deceased family and the people of Akwa Ibom State by attending in the funeral ceremony.

Also speaking, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, thanked Ms Usoro for making Akwa Ibom proud, and for honouring her mother spectacularly.

Senator Akpabio prayed the peace that surpasses all understanding would comfort her and members of the family.

The event witnessed the presence of members of the National Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, captains of industry, political stalwarts, and the general public.

Today's scripture emphasises the pivotal role of faith in our prayers. It instructs us to ask without doubting that God would grant our request. The passage compares a doubter to a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. Such a person should not expect to receive anything good from the Lord. The scripture concludes by stating that a double-minded person is unstable in his ways.

Today's scripture implies that the success of our prayers lies in our hands. God is ever willing to grant our requests as long as we ask in faith. This is a powerful reminder of the control we have over our prayers' success.

PDP: PARTY ELDERS URGE TINUBU TO CAUTION MATAWALLE OVER DEFECTION

The Northern Elders Unity Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to caution the Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Bello Matawalle, over alleged attempts to lure PDP members into the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly in Zamfara and Kaduna states.

The Forum accused Matawalle of using his influence and “excessive wealth” to coerce PDP supporters and party officials into defecting to the ruling party, describing the move as a deliberate attempt to weaken the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

National Secretary of the Forum, Dr. Abbas Sadauki, made the allegation after a meeting with PDP elders from Kaura Namoda, Zurmi, Tsafe, and Bungudu Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

According to him, Matawalle’s “desperate” efforts to dismantle PDP structures across the North-West threaten the survival of democracy and fair political competition in the region.

“The minister is using his position and political appointments to destabilize our party and lure our hardworking loyalists to the APC,” Dr. Sadauki alleged.

“Such actions create a vacuum in the opposition and undermine democratic values.”

He warned that the continued poaching of PDP members could erode political diversity and harm Nigeria’s democratic growth.

“Dismantling opposition structures in any form is not a good omen for our democracy,” he added. “President Tinubu should urgently call Matawalle to order before his actions uproot the democratic foundations built on fairness, justice, and national cohesion.”

Reports from Zamfara indicate that more than 24,000 PDP members, including several former executives and elders across six local governments, have defected to the APC in recent weeks.
