Ahoada-East Sole Administrator Attacked and Forced to Resign Over SUV Lease Dispute; Alleges ₦200M Allocation Deduction
In a shocking development, the Sole Administrator of Ahoada-East Local Government Area has allegedly been physically assaulted and forced to resign following a disagreement over the lease of a luxury vehicle.
Reports indicate that the administrator was pressured to lease an SUV belonging to a political associate of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, at a cost of ₦600,000 per day. Upon rejecting the continued lease—choosing instead to procure a more economical vehicle—he was reportedly attacked by hoodlums.
Viral videos circulating online show that the attack took place within the council premises, allegedly carried out with the collusion of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) and Chief of Staff (COS). The administrator was beaten severely and coerced into signing a resignation letter.
He is currently hospitalized and has further alleged that the Rivers State Government, under the leadership of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (rtd), deducted ₦200 million from the local government’s federal allocation.
This incident comes amid rising political tension and factional crises in Rivers State, despite the state of emergency declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR on March 18, 2025. The situation continues to fuel unrest as party loyalists and opposing camps battle for control at both local and state levels.
