THE CURSED VILLAGE 4

Ngozi was the next to go. She screamed as the dark figure appeared at the foot of the bed, its hollow eyes fixed on her. The others tried to pull her away, but it was as if she was being pulled into the shadows. Within seconds, she was gone, leaving only a faint echo of her scream behind.

Panic consumed the remaining four. They tried to leave the village, but the villagers blocked their way, their faces blank, their eyes empty. “You cannot leave,” they said in unison. “The darkness has claimed you.”

Aisha, who had been the bravest of them all, broke down. “We have to get out of here!” she cried. “We have to leave now!”

But it was too late. The forest closed in around them, the trees twisting and turning, forming a barrier they couldn’t pass. The whispers grew louder, more insistent, as if the darkness itself was speaking to them.

Bisi was the next to go. She was dragged into the forest, her screams echoing through the night, only to be swallowed by the trees. The remaining three corpers—Aisha, Amaka, and Zainab—were paralyzed with fear. They knew they were next.

The seventh night arrived. The lodge was deathly silent. The darkness outside was impenetrable. Aisha, Amaka, and Zainab huddled together, knowing this was their last night. They tried to stay awake, but exhaustion took its toll.
