*ARREST OF SUSPECTED SU***DE BOMBER IN DAMATURU*
At about 1430hrs today 29 Dec 25, one Mallam Ibrahim Mohammed, from Michika, Adamawa State he was arrested by CJTF members in Damaturu fol a raid on suspected hideout inhabited by Almajiris. Mallam Ibrahim who was a stranger among the Almajiris was arrested and interrogated. He confessed to being a member of BHT, JAS Faction from the Mandara Mountains. He also stated that he was on recce of troops and Sarkin Baka hunters in Damaturu. Preliminarily interrogation further revealed that he was one of the su***de bombers despatched to attack Mosques in Maiduguri. He said he entered Maiduguri alongside the su***de bomber that detonated the bomb in the GAMBORU Mkt on 24 Dec 25, while he was to detonate his own Bomb at the new IZALA Mosque near Tashan Joni also in Maiduguri Metropolis. They were sent by one Adamu Abubakar who live in Bakin Dutse Area near Mubi in Adamawa State but often go to the Mandara Mountains from Bakin Dutse.
He further revealed that he dropped his own su***de vest or bag around the IZALA Mosque in Maiduguri yesterday as he couldn't access the Mosque due to strict security checks at the Mosque. He added that another set of su***de bombers were also despatched to Damaturu for attks.
Fol the above, tps along with an EOD Team were imm despatched to the location. The area was thoroughly searched but no recoveries made so far. It is possible the vest or bag may have been picked up by another person. The suspect is enroute Maiduguri from Damaturu and will be taken straight to the IZALA Mosque area to show where he dropped the purported su***de explosive vest or bag. Subsequently, he will be exploited further.
It was obsn that the su***de bombers were specifically despatched to attk mosques owned by the IZALA Sect. Accordingly, troops and other security agencies across the theatre have been directed to be more vigilant and pay special attention to IZALA Mosques alongside other potential soft targets.
