NOTICE TO ALL STUDENTS

This is to inform all students that their University Identification (ID) Cards are now ready for collection at Wing C of the New Convocation Arena.

Students are advised to collect their ID cards personally and not through their respective departments or faculties.

Any department or faculty found collecting money from students under the guise of processing or obtaining ID cards is hereby directed to refund such monies immediately and may be subjected to appropriate disciplinary action.

Please note that the University ID Card is compulsory and will be required for identification during examinations and for access to and identification within the University premises.

Furthermore, fees charged for Departmental, Faculty, Association, or Ethnic ID Cards must not exceed One Thousand Naira (₦1,000.00).

All students are advised to take note and comply accordingly.

Prof. Chike Princewill R. Chike Highlights Uniport's Role in Public Health at Joint Conference.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chike Princewill, has described the University of Port Harcourt as a leading centre for public health training, research and innovation in Nigeria.

He stated this in a goodwill message at the 6th Society for Public Health Professionals of Nigeria and 37th Professional Association of Public Health Nurses of Nigeria Joint Conference in Abuja.

Prof. Princewill highlighted Uniport’s School of Public Health and ACE-PUTOR as key contributors to the University’s growing impact in public health.

The conference runs from August 24–29, 2026, under the theme: “Public Health in a Changing World: Innovation, Equity and Global Health Security.”

Uniport SUG Provost Issues Directive on Association Elections.

The SUG Provost, Comr. Ukachukwu Miracle Ebube, has issued a directive on faculty, departmental and ethnic association elections.

The directive was contained in a memorandum dated August 26, 2026, requiring electoral committees to obtain approval from the Office of the Provost before conducting any election.

EDITORIAL: The Celebration Ends, The Mandate Begins.

The University of Port Harcourt has witnessed a week that celebrated the energy, creativity and unity of its student community. The recently concluded Students’ Union Government (SUG) Week brought students together through sports, entertainment, fellowship and other activities that created memorable moments across campus.

From the Fresher’s Cup to the VC’s Cup, the sporting events provided a platform for healthy competition and school spirit while other activities like the Mr & Miss Uniport, etc further strengthened student engagement.

Beyond the celebration, the week also marked an important transition in student leadership. The election and subsequent inauguration of Comrade Adiele Aleruchi Azubuike and the 2026/2027 SUG Executive Council ushered in a new chapter for student representation at Uniport.

Unique Stoary congratulates Comrade Adiele Aleruchi Azubuike and the entire 2026/2027 SUG Executive Council on their election and inauguration. Their new mandate comes with the responsibility of turning the trust of the student body into meaningful action through effective representation, accountability, communication and a sustained commitment to student welfare.

SUG Week may have ended, but the work of leadership has just begun. The students are watching, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact is here.
