WAFCON final: Super Falcons produce stunning comeback to defeat Morocco, wins 10th title.

The Nigerian team staged a dramatic comeback on Saturday night in Rabat, Morocco, defeating the hosts 3-2 in front of a passionate home crowd to lift the trophy.

Morocco took an early lead through Ghizlane Chebbak in the 12th minute, and doubled their advantage when Sanaâ Mssoudy found the back of the net in the 24th minute.

However, Nigeria responded with a determined second-half performance that turned the game around.

Esther Okoronkwo pulled one back for Nigeria in the 64th minute from the penalty spot, before Folashade Florence Ijamilusi levelled the scoreline with a goal in the 71st minute.

Jennifer Echegini completed the comeback with a late winner in the 88th minute, sealing the Super Falcons’ win.

🗳️ APC Gets New National Chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has named Professor Entawe Goshwe Yilwatda as its new National Chairman. His appointment was announced during the party’s NEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Professor Yilwatda, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, takes over from Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje. In his speech, he promised to unite the party and drive forward the Renewed Hope Agenda. “We are all mechanics of this vehicle—the APC—and together, we will fix it and drive it to our destination,” he said.

The NEC also made other leadership adjustments and extended the tenure of ward and LGA executives till December 31. The meeting had in attendance top party leaders including Vice President Shettima, Senate President Akpabio, and several governors.

🚨 Rivers Govt Sets Up Farmers-Herders Peace Committee

The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Farmers and Herders Committee to tackle recurring clashes across the state. This was revealed in a press statement signed by Juliana Masi, Head of Press Unit, Government House.

Inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, the committee will help resolve disputes, promote peaceful coexistence, and ensure farming and grazing activities follow the law.

Members include traditional rulers, security agencies, farmers, herders, civil society, and key ministries. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture will serve as Secretary.

*Hulk Hogan: US wrestling legend dies at 71*

The ex-wrestler turned celebrity reportedly died of cardiac arrest at his Florida home. Hogan's trademark mustache, bandana and massive physique made him a wrestling icon, particularly in the 1980s.

Confirming the incidence World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) said on Thursday:
"WWE is saddened to learn WWE Half of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away".

WWE made the post on social media platform X, while extending condolences to "Hogan's family, friends and fans."

Florida police said on Facebook that authorities responded to cardiac arrest in the city of Clearwater, with Hogan later pronounced dead at the hospital.

📌 PH Businessman & Socialite Ceemore Settles Assault Case Out of Court

Port Harcourt entrepreneur and nightlife figure, Ikechi Maduba, popularly known as Ceemore, has reached a private settlement with five women who accused him of assault at a city nightclub.

💼 Ceemore, CEO of the Ceemore brand, reportedly apologized and offered a financial settlement — which the women accepted. Their lawyer confirmed the agreement before the Magistrate Court.

⚖️ With an affidavit of withdrawal submitted, the case was formally struck out, bringing the legal battle to a close.

📣 National Assembly Begins Annual Recess, Resumes September 23

The Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives have officially begun their annual recess. Lawmakers will be away from plenary until Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

🗣️ Senate President Godswill Akpabio says senators will use the break to carry out oversight duties, with committees expected to submit reports when they return.

🏛️ Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen, also encouraged reps to use the time to connect with constituents, follow up on federal projects, and address local concerns.

🔍 This break is a regular part of the National Assembly calendar to help lawmakers focus on the people they represent.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been suspended for 2 months after being found guilty of illegal betting while playing for his Italian club, Udinese.

⚽ First 6 matches of the new Serie A season

🟨 The case centres around a yellow card he received during a match against Lazio in March 2024, which triggered suspicious betting activity — with over €120,000 (₦214 million) won on that single booking!

😮 Authorities investigated and ruled out match-fixing but nailed Okoye for violating betting rules.

🔙 He’ll be eligible to return by October 19, 2025.

Dame Judith Amaechi, wife of ex-Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi, has strongly denied allegations by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike that she receives N4 billion monthly from the NDDC through her NGO, Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI).

📢 Through her media aide, she challenged Wike to publish the NDDC forensic audit report or resign immediately, as he earlier promised on live TV.

💬 “There’s no truth in Wike’s wild claims. Neither I nor ESI ever received such money,” she said, describing his remarks as baseless and politically motivated.

Her team also warned that Wike’s unverified statements could harm Nigeria’s global image.

What. A. Match! The Super Falcons of Nigeria are through to the WAFCON Final after a heart-stopping 2-1 win over South Africa in Morocco!

⚽️ Rasheedat Ajibade gave Nigeria the lead just before halftime from the penalty spot.

⚽️ South Africa hit back in the second half with a penalty of their own, converted by Linda Motlhalo.

🕓 But just when extra time seemed certain, Michelle Alozie delivered a magical 94th-minute goal — a long ball that floated past everyone and into the net! 💥🙌
