I genuinely didn't know what to say when I heard this. 👀

Someone I know just packed out of her house.

A few days later, her friend was looking for a house, so she said, “Come, let me take you to my former landlord. Since I just packed out, you can rent the same place.”

They went there thinking it would be straightforward.

Only for the landlord to tell them that the same house she had just been paying ₦400,000 for was now ₦1 million. 😭

They negotiated, and the landlord said ₦800,000 was the last.

My people… within days.

Not a new building.

Not a new environment.

Not some massive renovation.

Just a new tenant. 😭

And this is what made me start thinking about the housing situation in Port Harcourt.

The rate at which house rent is increasing is becoming something else.

And the painful part is that the rent itself is just the beginning.

Caution fee.

Agent fee.

Agreement/lawyer fee.

Before you know it, you have spent a fortune just trying to have somewhere to put your head.

Then someone will tell you, “Street dey hot. You no go see better one outside.”

And sometimes, honestly, they're right.

That's why if you're currently staying somewhere and the rent is still manageable, manage am well.

Don't leave a ₦250k, ₦300k or ₦500k house simply because you now have ₦700k and feel like you should upgrade.

You might leave there and discover that the next place is ₦1.5 million.

Then you'll start wondering why you ever left the first one. 😂

Of course, if your landlord is terrible, the environment is unsafe, the building has serious problems or the place is genuinely affecting your life, please find your way out.

But if it's simply because you feel like you need something “better”…

Look very well before you move.

Because Port Harcourt housing is not smiling. 😭

And honestly, I don't even blame the landlord.

I don't blame the tenant either.

Everybody is trying to survive in the same country.

At this point in my adulthood, I don't blame people for trying to make a living—as long as you're not hurting someone, stealing from someone or deliberately taking advantage of another person.

Sometimes, you just look at the situation, breathe and say:

“Oya, how do I survive this one?” 😂

If your current rent is still manageable, are you staying there until further notice? 😭

My heart goes out to every parent who feels like they didn't prepare enough for this period. ❤️

You probably started planning since July.

You wrote your lists.
You put things together.
You tried to save.
You made arrangements.

You genuinely thought that by the time September came, everything would be settled.

Then September arrived and somehow… it still feels like you didn't do enough.

Please, don't beat yourself up.

Sometimes it's the economy.

Sometimes unexpected expenses show up.

Sometimes life simply refuses to follow the plan you carefully made.

It doesn't mean you were careless.

It doesn't mean you didn't try.

And it definitely doesn't mean you're a bad parent.

You did what you could with what you had at the time.

So if you're currently running helter-skelter trying to complete school fees, uniforms, books, shoes, bags and the hundred other things on that list…

Breathe. ❤️

One thing at a time.

We will get there.

Parents, how is September resumption treating you so far? 😭

I think we need to talk about how quickly we call people “lazy.”

Sometimes, what looks like laziness from the outside is actually someone who is tired, overwhelmed, discouraged or simply trying to figure out where to start.

Not everybody who is moving slowly has given up.

Some people are fighting battles you cannot see.

And honestly, sometimes even you can look at your own life and think, “What is wrong with me? Why am I not doing more?”

When the truth is… you may just need to breathe, reset and start again.

Have you ever mistaken being overwhelmed for being lazy?

I had a meltdown yesterday.

Call me whatever you think or whatever you want, but I honestly have never experienced this kind of pain before.

I took my child to a salon to get her hair done because she is starting school for the first time in her life on Monday.

The tears.
The constant crying.
The struggle.

At one point, I was literally between the fire and the frying pan.

Should I tell the woman to stop the hair?

Should I just cut this hair and forget everything?

Then another thought would come:

If I cut it, when will she ever get used to making her hair?

If I leave it, am I going to come back here and watch her go through this again?

Or should I change the hairstyle completely and hope another pattern makes it less painful?

I honestly didn't know what to do.

I lost my appetite yesterday.

I just kept watching this woman work on my child's hair while my child cried, and somehow I was the one breaking down inside.

And when we finally got home, it didn't even end there.

I had to carry her through the night because she couldn't even rest her head properly to sleep.

I was looking at her and asking myself, “Guy, what have I done?” 😭💔

And it got me thinking…

There are some decisions we make as parents that sometimes hurt us more than they hurt the child.

We know it's for their good.

We know it's part of preparing them.

We know there are things they have to learn and get used to.

But knowing that doesn't make it easier when you're the one watching them cry.

Sometimes parenting really feels like choosing the option that hurts your heart because you believe it's better for their future.

And even when you know you're doing the right thing, you can still blame yourself.

As I'm writing this, I'm still looking at her and wondering if I should have done something differently.

How do you people do this parenting thing? 😭

Please tell me I'm not the only mother who has ever made a decision for her child and then spent the whole night questioning herself. 💔

Maybe we need to stop using other people's timelines to measure our own lives. 👀

It starts so innocently.

“Her child is already walking.”

“His child started talking early.”

“She already has two children.”

“She has bought a house.”

“He is already doing so well.”

Before you know it, you're looking at your own life and wondering if you're somehow behind.

But the funny thing is, even babies don't follow the same timeline.

One child walks early.
Another takes their sweet time.

One starts talking quickly.
Another watches, listens and suddenly starts talking when they're ready. 😂

So why do we expect ourselves to have the exact same timeline as everybody else?

Your friend's marriage may be ahead of yours.

Someone your age may already have a thriving business.

Someone younger may be earning more than you.

Another person may still be figuring things out.

And none of that automatically means you're failing.

Sometimes comparison doesn't even come from jealousy.

Sometimes it's simply from forgetting that different lives come with different timelines.

Maybe your own journey isn't late.

Maybe it's just yours.

So tell me honestly…

What is one thing you used to think you would have achieved by now because you saw other people achieving it? 👀

Let’s not pretend numbers don’t encourage us.

Whether it is 100 views, 300 views, 500 views or 2,000 views, seeing people respond to something you created gives you a certain kind of encouragement.

And honestly, numbers can teach you something too.

They can show you what people are responding to. What is holding their attention. What kind of story makes them stop.

But here's the part I've learned the hard way:

Sometimes the numbers don't tell the whole story.

I've had a reel with a hook rate above 50% that still didn't even cross 100 views.

The hook was good.
The video was good.
The story was good.

So what happened?

Maybe the content wasn't the problem. Maybe it simply wasn't pushed to enough people.

And I've also had moments where I put something out almost casually and watched it travel further than something I spent hours perfecting. 😂

That's why I've stopped looking at numbers as a final judgment.

And you know what?

This happens outside content creation too.

You can put everything into your business and still have a quiet day.

You can give your best at work and still not get noticed immediately.

You can genuinely try your best at something and still not see the result you expected.

Sometimes the effort and the evidence don't arrive at the same time.

So yes, I check my numbers.
Yes, they encourage me.
Yes, I learn from them.

But I refuse to let one low number convince me that the work itself was worthless.

Because sometimes…

the work is working. You just haven't seen the evidence yet. ❤️

Have you ever created something you KNOW was good, but the numbers completely disagreed? 👀

This man said something at the bank today that I honestly liked. 👀

We got talking, and somehow the conversation got to children.

He asked about my daughter, and when I told him her age, he mentioned that his own baby is 11 months and hasn't started walking yet.

I told him not to worry. Children don't all follow the same timeline. Some walk early, some take their time, and that doesn't mean anything is wrong with the child.

But as we continued talking, he mentioned that his wife is pregnant again.

The baby is only 11 months, and she's already expecting another child.

Then he said something that caught my attention.

He said he actually feels for his wife because women really try.

From carrying the pregnancy, giving birth, breastfeeding, nurturing the baby and handling the everyday demands of motherhood, he knows it's a lot.

So he was considering putting the baby in school—not because the baby is “too much,” but because he wants his wife to have some time to rest, especially now that she's pregnant again.

And honestly, I liked that.

Because responsible men don't only ask, “What does my family need?”

They also ask, “How is my wife coping with all of this?”

There is a difference between a man who simply provides and a man who is actually paying attention to the life happening inside his home.

You don't have to wait until your wife is completely exhausted before you realize she needs help.

Sometimes responsibility is simply noticing the load and finding a way to make it lighter.

Do you think men pay enough attention to the everyday workload their wives carry?
