VEN. JAMES A. ATUBO WAS COLLATED AS ARCHDEACON. by Bishop Enoch.
In the Anglican church, preferment means the promotion or appointment of clergy to higher or more senior roles, like Canon's or Archdeacons etc.
It's essentially a spiritual promotion or advancement within the church hierarchy, distinct from the worldly concept of preference.
His lordship Rt. Rev Dr. Enoch Atuboyedia Jp. By divine Providence preferred Ven. James A. Atubo as an Archdeacon in the Diocese of Okrika Anglican Communion. Which signifies that he is a cleric who has been identified by the Bishop with a necessary skills, character and commitment to the canonical obedience with a significant leadership role in the life and work of the diocese.
Immediately after the collated service on Monday 17th Nov. 2025. At the Cathedral church of St. Peter's, Okrika. Parishioners, family members, friends and well-wishers joined the family of Ven. & Mrs. James A. Atubo to St. Anne's Anglican church okujagu-Ama, for the thanksgiving service and reception.
Ven. James A Atubo as an Archdeacon, will act as the Bishop Administrative assistant and effectively shares in the Bishop's ordinary jurisdiction, helping with the general supervision of parish clergy and church properties.
He is also expected to play a crucial role in the pastoral Care, recruitment and discipline of the clergy within their Archdeaconry, ensuring the bishop is awear of the needs and concern of the people and ministers.
Congratulations to Ven. & Mrs. James A Atubo. We pray that the Lord Almighty will continue to equip and strengthen you with greater unction to function on this higher calling.
