Governor Dapo Abiodun Presents ₦1.668trn “Budget of Sustainable Legacy” for 2026

Governor Dapo Abiodun has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill, valued at ₦1.668 trillion and tagged the “Budget of Sustainable Legacy,” to the Ogun State House of Assembly. The governor explained that the proposal reinforces his administration’s priority on completing key ISEYA projects, expanding infrastructure, boosting revenue, and driving long-term prosperity for the people of Ogun State.

According to the presentation, ₦1.044 trillion is allocated to capital projects, with ₦526.15 billion specifically earmarked for infrastructure. The governor noted that the budget is structured to sustain the state’s development momentum while strengthening efforts in job creation, food security, industrial growth, and improved service delivery. He also reviewed the 2025 Budget of Hope and Prosperity to ensure continuity and alignment with emerging needs.

Governor Abiodun appreciated the Speaker, Honourable Members, and other stakeholders for their continued collaboration as the state prepares for major programmes and investments in 2026.

IGP Appoints DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi as New PPRO Ogun State police Command

Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun has appointed Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi as the new Police Public Relations officer of Ogun State Command.

Mr Babaseyi replaced Omolola Odutola as the command's Spokesperson.

Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi holds an LL.B in Law from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, a Barrister-at-Law qualification from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, and a Diploma in Law from Osun State University.

He has served in several operational, investigative, and administrative capacities across divisions and specialized units.

He also has strong experience in police administration and strategic communication, having served as Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command and as Secretary to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, where he was deeply involved in command administration and high-level coordination.

Until his recent appointment as the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, he distinguished himself in media relations and information management.

So-Safe Corps Arrests Serial Grave Robbers and Ritualists in Ogun

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has arrested three suspects involved in grave robbery and ritual activities in Ipokia, Ogun State.

This was disclosed by the State Commander, (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, in a statement released by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

Ganzallo explained that at about 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the Anti-Arms Smuggling Unit and the Ipokia Area Command received intelligence about individuals in possession of a human skull at Isale Odo, Ibatefin.

Led by ACC Abdulkareem Abdulrazak and ACC Aliyu Yusuf, the team moved to the location without delay. Upon arrival, officers found three male suspects: Alabi Taiwo, Kasimu Amuda, and Adisa Joshua, with a human skull, white cloths, and a cross fixed to a casket.

During interrogation, Alabi Taiwo confessed that he dug up the grave of a woman buried near his house on July 28, 2025. He said he took the skull to herbalist Adisa Joshua, intending to sell it to the third suspect, Kasimu Amuda. Kasimu admitted they had engaged in the crime for some time and usually paid Fifty Thousand Naira ( #50,000) per skull.

Kasimu also identified an accomplice named Hamed, a resident of Badagry, Lagos State, who is currently at large.

Ganzallo confirmed that the suspects have been transferred to the Nigeria Police, Idiroko Area Command, for investigation and possible prosecution.

He commended the officers for their swift action and thanked the community for its trust. He added that the Corps remains committed to using every available resource to keep Ogun State safe.

BREAKING NEWS (Ogun State)

Over 20 suspects have been arrested by the Zone 2 Dragon Squad in connection with the killing of a police officer in Ilese, near Ijebu-Ode.

According to the Zone 2 Police PRO, the incident happened on November 29 when a group of suspected cult members invaded the community, causing panic among residents.
The officer and some locals came out to check what was happening, but the attackers opened fire, sadly taking his life and injuring two others.

In a follow-up operation, officers tracked the suspects to their hideout in Ogbere, where they were arrested during an overnight raid.
Items recovered include:
– A Nissan Micra
– Locally made fi****ms
– Live cartridges
– Phones, cash, and other belongings

Police say one key suspect is still on the run with an important exhibit, but efforts are ongoing to arrest him.

Security has now been strengthened in the area to restore peace, and residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity.

The Zone 2 Command assures the public that everyone involved in the attack will be brought to justice.

Ogun Budgets ₦1.668trn For 2026

The Ogun State Government has proposed a total expenditure of ₦1,668,997,993,125.44 for the 2026 fiscal year — a 63 percent increase from the 2025 budget of ₦1.054 trillion.

Presenting the Appropriation Bill, tagged “Budget of Sustainable Legacy,” before members of the State House of Assembly at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Governor Dapo Abiodun explained that the proposed budget comprises ₦624.76 billion (37percent) for recurrent expenditure and ₦1.044 trillion (63 percent) for capital expenditure.

According to the Governor, key components of the budget include: Personnel Costs – ₦167.92 billion; Consolidated Revenue Charges – ₦65.80 billion; Public Debt Charges – ₦99.98 billion; Overhead Costs – ₦291.06 billion; and Capital Expenditure – ₦1.044 trillion.

On funding sources, Governor Abiodun disclosed that ₦509.88 billion is expected from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) — ₦250 billion from the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service and ₦259.80 billion from MDAs. Statutory allocation from the Federal Government is projected at ₦554.81 billion, while capital receipts of ₦518.90 billion — comprising internal and external loans and grants — are also anticipated.

Breaking down the sectoral allocations, the Governor stated that Education will receive ₦275.40 billion (17 percent ); Health, ₦210.59 billion (13percent ); Housing and Community Development, ₦199.96 billion (10 percent), Agriculture and Industry, ₦40.54 billion (2
percent); while Infrastructure will take the largest share — ₦526.15 billion (32 percent).

Other allocations include: Social Protection, ₦72.82 billion (4 percent); Recreation, Culture and Religion, ₦42.24 billion (3 percent); General Public Service — Executive Organ, ₦55.65 billion (3 percent); General Public Service — Financial and Fiscal Affairs, ₦52.30 billion (3 percent)); and Personnel Service, ₦3.86 billion (0.2 percent).

Public Order and Safety will get ₦36 billion (2 percent); Economic Affairs, ₦7.45 billion (0.4 percent), Judiciary, ₦15.70 billion (1percent); Legislature, ₦33.67 billion (2 percent); while Statewide Expenditure accounts for ₦129.68 billion (8 percent).

Badaru Abubakar, Defence Minister, Resigns

Nigeria’s defence minister, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has resigned his appointment, with immediate effect.

In a letter dated December 1, sent to President Bola Tinubu, Abubakar said he was quitting on health grounds.

President Tinubu has accepted the resignation and thanked Abubakar for his services to the nation.

President Tinubu will likely inform the Senate of Badaru’s successor later this week.

Badaru Abubakar, 63, was a two-term governor of Jigawa state from 2015 to 2023. He was appointed as a minister on August 21, 2023, by President Tinubu.
