Otta Egungun World Festival: A Cultural Pilgrimage and Economic Revival Anchored in Tradition
The historic city of Otta once again came alive as it played host to the Otta Egungun World Festival, a grand cultural spectacle that marked the largest convergence of Egungun adherents in recorded history.

For the thousands who gathered from across Nigeria and the diaspora, the festival was far more than a celebration. It was a pilgrimage, a spiritual homecoming that reaffirmed deep ancestral ties and the enduring strength of Yoruba identity.

Congratulations to our revered Royal Father, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ph.D (Lanlege Ekun II, Arole Iganmode, Olofin Apesin Olode), the Olota-in-Council, Olota Chiefs, the Oloponda and chiefs, Baales, Leaders of Clubs and Societies, well wishers, on the successful flag-off of the 2025 Otta Egungun World Festival.

We also express our sincere appreciation to all Royal Fathers who stood in solidarity with His Majesty from the very beginning( the Agan Night) to the sacred Ibodo Oko (led by leader of Egungun in Otta "Ẹgẹ"), gathering held at the City Square, Okede, Otta, and through to the vibrant opening display by Labo Idire, held on Monday, 20th October 2025, in accordance with our age-long traditions.

Our deep gratitude also goes to all sons and daughters of Otta-Awori, both at home and in the diaspora, as well as friends and well-wishers from far and near, whose presence, support, and participation have added immense value to the commencement of the 2025 Egungun World Festival, a celebration that will continue into the new year, 2026.

The well attended Ibodo Oko was chaired by the Alara of Ilara, HRM Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, alongside eminent Royal Fathers. We sincerely appreciate the support of Ogun State Government delegations led by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Chief Sesan Fagbayi, and other distinguished guests
