The irony of this title is that there is really no secret to get healthy hair. It isn't like a thousand years old complicated recipe passed down within a family generation.
Healthy hair is well cared hair. Healthy hair is for everyone. Healthy hair means long hair. Your hair can be healthy.
HERE ARE 5 SECRETS FOR HEALTHY HAIR
• Wash when necessary - dirt hinders proper hair growth. Dirt will clog the pores not allowing nutrient to get to the scalp and also affects the effects of sebum. It is recommended to wash at least every two weeks but if you feel your scalp feels clean enough then you can wash when necessary.
• Deep condition every wash day - deep conditioning is an essential step on wash days. Doing this help add intense moisture or strength to hair strands, thereby reducing breakage and improving your hair's elasticity.
• Scalp oil- our scalp produce an oil sebum. If the sebum produced by your scalp is enough,extra oil is not needed but if it isn't,then scalp stimulating oil can be applied. There are several oils that stimulates the scalp such as tea tree oil, peppermint oil, rosehip oil, olive oil, coconut oil e.t.c
• Moisturize - This is essential to achieving a healthy hair. Moisturized hair reduces dryness, which in turn reduces breakage and less breakage equals length retention. Length retention equal long and healthy hair.
• Protect your hair with silk/satin- sleeping with a cotton pillowcase without wearing protection causes friction and leads to breakage. This doesn't mean you will wake up with your hair all over your pillow/bed. This might be noticable on wash days with broken pieces of hair all over your bathroom floor. So it is important to sleep with your hair in a bonnet or use satin/silk pillowcase and sheets.
Rome wasn't built in a day,so if you're new to these practices, take them one step at a time. You can start by washing your hair every 3 weeks or 2 weeks,instead of going as long as one month plus, wash two times every month. Moisturize twice per week and if a bonnet doesn't work for you,use a scarf.
