Access Bank Launches Clean Water Project in 10 Nigerian Communities

As part of its commitment to sustainable development and community well-being, Access Bank has launched the Access Clean Water Project, a transformative initiative aimed at improving access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in 10 communities across Nigeria.

Through the Access Clean Water Project, Access Bank has facilitated the installation of boreholes in 10 underserved communities, namely: Arogun, Omu Ishoko, Kemta, Ajibode, Aleku, Ogunrun, Oniwawa, Okeran, Abaren, and Afojupa, ensuring reliable access to clean and safe water for thousands of residents.

The project, implemented in partnership with HACEY, a leading development organisation, directly supports Sustainable Development Goal 6, ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

With Nigeria’s population exceeding 200 million and access to pipe-borne water in urban households declining from 32% in 1990 to just 3% in 2015, the need for sustainable water solutions has never been more urgent. The Access Clean Water Project addresses this challenge by providing functional boreholes and WASH education to communities in Obafemi Owode and Otta Local Government Areas, benefiting over 500,000 residents.

This initiative aligns with Access Bank’s broader Corporate Social Investment (CSI) strategy and reinforces its position as a leading sustainability-focused financial institution. By supporting clean water access, the Bank is fostering community growth through improved health, education, and economic opportunities and demonstrating its commitment to inclusive development and long-term positive impact.

“Access Bank is proud to support this vital initiative that not only improves lives but also strengthens the foundation for sustainable economic growth,” said Esther Graham, Programme Officer, Health, Access Holdings PLC. “Our commitment to community development is unwavering, and we believe access to clean water is a fundamental right that drives progress.”

In addition to infrastructure development, the Access Bank Clean Water Project includes comprehensive WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene

Media Freedom Under Threat in Nigeria, as SERAP/ NGE Issues Stark Warning, Calls for Action

Media Freedom Under Threat in Nigeria: SERAP & NGE Issue Urgent Call to Action

Dr. Martins Onoja's keynote presentation at the press conference highlighted the alarming state of media freedom in Nigeria. According to Dr. Onoja, poverty is being used as a weapon against the media, making it challenging for journalists to perform their duties. He emphasized that criticism, advocacy, and litigation are essential hallmarks of democracy, and journalists should take up the challenge of promoting these values.

Dr Martins warned that attacks on the media often signal the arrival of authoritarianism, and journalists should be vigilant in defending their rights. He lamented that Nigerian politicians expect journalists to perform the duty of public relations, rather than holding those in power accountable. Journalists are now finding it difficult to breathe, and the government is doing everything to suppress press freedom. Dr. Onoja noted that if journalists uncover wrongdoing, the government often cries "national security" to silence them.

The Nigerian government, according to speakers at the press conference, is doing everything to suppress press freedom. "A particular minister can do anything and get away with it, and the government will stop at nothing to silence journalists who try to expose the truth". They emphasized that press freedom is not a privilege, but a fundamental right that is essential for the growth and development of a nation.

The press conference served as a call to action for journalists, civil society, and all stakeholders to defend media freedom and promote a culture of transparency and accountability. They urged journalists to remain vigilant and continue to hold those in power accountable, despite the challenges they face. By doing so, Nigerians can build a more vibrant, inclusive, and responsive democracy that values press freedom and promotes the common good.

Tuface Married Annie Out of Pity, not Love, Value or Character

By Arthur Igbolaju Richard

This may sound cruel but it's the home truth and you can't dispute it. He married her simply because she was there from the beginning and also because she's from a humble background.

I have read and listened to Tuface severally on why he choose Annie over the other women, no doubt he decided to marry her probably out of pity or family pressure.

His Very Words;

“You see, Pero Adeniyi who gave birth to my first son graduated from a top UK University as a medical student and is now a doctor.
She is very beautiful and intelligent from a very wealthy family”.

“Sandra who gave birth to my other two kids is a dealer in expensive diamond and gold jewelries. She was already a multi-millionaire when I met her, she owns one of the most expensive houses in Banana Island. Her family too are very well to do”.

“Sumbo who gave birth to 2 kids for me is also a very intelligent first class Lawyer. She has worked on and won many big cases for so many wealthy men and women in this country and abroad, that’s how she made her money and she too is very beautiful as well”.
“But you see Annie is from an average background like myself, we both started from nothing. She was there before all the others and she stuck by me through it all".

Tuface Idibia himself disclosed that he married Annie Idibia out of pity, rather than out of true love or respect for her character. Yes! I said it.

Obviously Tuface knew from the onset that the other women were way better and more qualified to be chosen as Mrs Idibia , but he decided to settle for Annie simply because she's from a humble background just like him.

Now you may be wondering the real dynamics of their high-profile marriage which is about coming to an 'expected' end.

Tuface openly contrasted Annie's background with that of his other baby mamas, pointing out their impressive achievements and financial success. Pero Adeniyi, a doctor from a wealthy family; Sandra, a successful businesswoman; and Sumbo, a prominent lawyer, all appeared to have more appealing attributes than Annie.

Nonetheless, Tuface selected Annie for her ste

Nonetheless, Tuface selected Annie for her steadfast loyalty and support during his challenging times as a musician. He commended her commitment, noting that she remained by his side through ups and downs, even praying for him when his career faced turmoil.

Tuface's remarks prompt reflection on the nature of their relationship and whether Annie's loyalty and commitment are sufficient for a healthy and satisfying marriage. Was Tuface's choice to marry Annie a true act of love, or was it influenced by guilt, obligation, or pity?
I leave you with the answer.

Last line: Yul Educhie and Judy Austin are currently cooking something on how to stage a comeback into prominence as the main topic of social media discussion, this Tuface- Annie saga took them by surprise and they're not happy with it.
