I recently had the privilege of joining the British–Nigerian Education Trade Mission in Lagos 🇳🇬🇬🇧

It was inspiring to connect with educators, policymakers, school leaders, edtech innovators, and organisations committed to strengthening educational partnerships between the UK and Nigeria.

One theme surfaced repeatedly throughout the conversations:

Educational success is not simply about transferring a curriculum from one context to another.

The real challenge, and opportunity, is creating learning experiences that children genuinely connect with.

As someone working at the intersection of education, children’s media, and edutainment, I often return to questions such as:

✨ How will this learning experience feel for the child?
✨ What stories, language, and cultural references will make it meaningful?
✨ How do we balance global standards with local relevance?

Increasingly, I see the future of learning as connected ecosystems where stories, songs, books, media, digital experiences, and classroom learning work together to support children’s development.

The conversations in Lagos reinforced the tremendous potential for collaboration between the UK and Nigeria in education, children’s media, and learning innovation.

While curriculum provides the structure, stories, songs, media, and meaningful experiences are often what bring learning to life, especially for young learners.

As I looked through the bathroom window, washing my hands and wondering what sort of a day it would hold, I found myself hoping and praying for a joyful one.

Then I looked up and saw this beautiful splash of red. 🍒 The cherries had reddened so quickly since I was out in the garden enjoying the warm sunshine just a few days ago.

It was a lovely reminder that bright things are often seen when we look up, take time for a prayer, hope a little, and look forward to the day ahead.

I know it will be a glorious day! 🍒🍒🍒
