Former Minister of Defense, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (Retd) has once again charged the people of Taraba State to step up self-defense against their k!llers.

“I once asked you to rise up and defend yourselves, I’m still repeating it today with more seriousness. Rise up and defend yourselves. The k!llers have obtained sophisticated arms, we don’t know where they got the arms, you people should also seek to get it wherever they got the arms. You must defend yourselves against the k!llers.

“You should know they are well armed to k!ll you and take over your land. Be ready for them as they are also humans like you,” Danjuma stated.

I cannot mislead my people because I don't harbor hate or mischief against anyone. Those misleading their people are people who think supporting injustice and impunity will elevate them. However, the truth is, injustice and impunity only grant temporary victory and respect.

2025 UTME: candidates can generate their profile codes now - JAMB

To facilitate smooth registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and eliminate potential bottlenecks, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has notified prospective candidates that they can now generate and save their profile code for use when registration begins.

Candidates are advised to note that the phone number used to send a request for their profile code, via a text message to either of the two quick codes, is automatically tied to their respective names and will be used by the Board in all communications relating to application, examination and admission. The candidates will receive a profile code of ten characters on the same telephone number.

To generate their profile codes, candidates are expected to send: NIN (one space) and then their NIN number (eleven digits number) by text (SMS) to either 55019 or 66019 from their personal GSM number. For example, the SMS should look like this; "NIN 12345678901" (without the quotation marks); send it to 55019 or 66019. Remember, "12345678901" should be your own NIN.

Hausa, Fulani Clash: 11 Killed, 31 Houses Burnt in Deadly Ethnic Violence in Jigawa State

A devastating ethnic crisis has broken out in Gululu village, Jahun and Miga local government areas of Jigawa State, leaving at least 11 people dead and 31 houses burnt to ashes. The incident, which occurred last Friday, has sparked tension in the community and raised concerns about the fragile peace in the region.

According to eyewitnesses, the violence erupted after a fight between Hausa and Fulani communities, resulting in the senseless killing of innocent people, including children. Suleiman Abubakar Jahun, a Fulani elder, lost five of his children in the attack and is now left to care for his 18 grandchildren.

I was at home when people informed me of a fight between Hausa and Fulani communities

“I was at home when people informed me of a fight between Hausa and Fulani communities. Upon arriving at the scene, I witnessed rampant killings, which were senseless and devastating,” Abubakar said, appealing to the government to provide assistance to the affected families.

Another victim, Amadu Garba Jahun, who lost his child, called for peace and justice, saying that the community does not seek revenge but wants the authorities to bring the perpetrators to book. “We’re not seeking revenge or wanting to take the law into our own hands. We just want the authorities to do their job and bring us justice,” Garba said.

The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has donated 25 bags of rice and N500,000 to the affected families, while also distributing five bags of rice and N100,000 to those who lost children. Dr. Haruna Mairiga, Chairman of SEMA, attributed the clash to theft by unknown individuals, which escalated into violence.

The incident has raised concerns about the ongoing ethnic tensions in the region and the need for urgent intervention to prevent further violence.
