In a recent statement issued in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, the leadership of the Tourism Volunteer Network of Cross River State Chapter and the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) have strongly urged their members to refrain from engaging in violent protests.

Ladies are gentlemen.

In unity in diversity, building and embracing a united Cross River State for progress and stability, not limited to the near future but for the state's and her youths' existence. We gather and stand strongly for youth development.

Cross River stands as one in the spirit of unity, transcending individual interests and sectarian divides. Our state belongs to every Cross River State citizen, and together, we should celebrate our diversity, fostering a harmonious and strong Cross River State. Nigeria as a nation upholds the same.

In the spirit of Martin Luther King's wisdom. "Our lives begin to end when we stay silent about what matters." Cross River State matters, and youths matter.

On this auspicious occasion of May 25th, 2024, we commemorate a significant milestone in the youth movement of Cross River State. The successful culmination of the 2024 State Convention and Election at the Calabar Municipal Council Hall marks a pivotal moment for the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Cross River State Chapter. With unwavering commitment, we've united across physical and digital realms to shape the future of our state's youth.

The core ethos of the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) in Cross River State centers on advancing youth participation in realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With a decade-long legacy of service, both at the state and national levels, NYAN remains steadfast in fostering innovation, civic engagement, and entrepreneurial spirit among our youth. We champion the principles of equity, freedom, and justice as pillars of our collective vision for progress.

Our chapter comprises dynamic youth leaders representing all 18 local government areas, 203 wards, and 3289 polling units. This diverse coalition forms the bedrock of NYAN's endeavors to empower and uplift the youths of Cross River State, and by extension, Nigeria as a whole.

NYAN Cross River State advocates tirelessly for good governance, transparency, and holistic youth development and participation of youth in governance. We call upon governmental bodies, ministries, and stakeholders to prioritize youth-centric policies and initiatives aimed at nurturing talent and fostering growth opportunities. Moreover, we pledge to collaborate with digital technology firms, skill acquisition organizations, and NGOs that share our mission to equip young people with the tools they need to thrive in today's world.

In our quest for inclusivity, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities, and recognize their invaluable contributions to our society.
