Imagine serving your country faithfully for 30–35 years, teaching, protecting, building, or leading only to retire and spend your old age begging for what rightfully belongs to you.
This is the sad reality of many pensioners in Nigeria.
They wait for years without their pensions. Many fall sick. Some die before receiving a single payment. Families are left to suffer in silence.
That is why I am launching Voices of Forgotten Pensioners, a platform to tell their stories, create awareness, and demand justice from the government.
Every week, I will be interviewing pensioners, widows, and families who have been denied their entitlements. Their voices will no longer be ignored.
In the coming weeks, we will also be inaugurating a team of lawyers and non-lawyers who will work with us to assist pensioners in fighting for their rights.
To begin, we are initiating this process in Delta State, and then expanding to other states across Nigeria.
How you can help:
1. Follow and share these stories widely so it can get to all affected.
2. Tag government agencies and decision-makers.
3. Use the hashtags
4. Stand with our elders, they deserve dignity in retirement.
They gave their strength to Nigeria. Now we must fight for them to be remembered.
