What Is Foley Catheter Induction?
Foley catheter induction is a non-drug method used to start or speed up labor.

A Foley catheter is a soft, thin tube with a small balloon at its tip.
Here’s how it works:
1️⃣ The catheter is gently inserted through the cervix.
2️⃣ The balloon is filled with sterile water to help put pressure on the cervix.
3️⃣ This pressure encourages the cervix to soften, thin, and open (dilate) — helping the body get ready for labor.

Why use it?

It avoids the use of certain labor-inducing drugs.

Often used when the cervix is not yet ready for labor.

Possible sensations:

Mild discomfort or cramping.

Some women feel it’s more natural than drug methods.

Safety:

Done in a hospital or clinic by trained healthcare professionals.

Monitoring is important to check both mom and baby’s well-being.

📌 Note: Always discuss the pros and cons of induction methods with your healthcare provider before deciding.

Two Weeks Post-C-Section
A Wake-Up Call 🚨

Today I reviewed a patient’s C-section scar two weeks post-op, and what I saw broke my heart. The wound had not been properly cared for — no follow-up, no guidance, no support. Just pain, fear, and confusion.

This should never be the case.

Postoperative care is just as important as the surgery itself. Clean wounds, proper hygiene, check-ups, and patient education can mean the difference between healing and complications.

Mothers are not just statistics. They deserve dignified, quality care — from surgery to full recovery.

To fellow health workers: let’s do better.
To expecting mothers: please advocate for your care. Ask questions. Insist on follow-ups.
To everyone: maternal care is a community responsibility.

Tonight reminded me why I chose this path.

We had a man rushed into the emergency room stabbed and bleeding profusely. The look in his eyes was one of fear, pain, and confusion. His clothes were soaked in blood, and time was not on our side.

In that moment, every second mattered. My training kicked in, and alongside my team, we worked quickly to stop the bleeding, stabilize him, and fight to keep him alive. I held his hand when he could barely speak, reassured him when he was scared, and reminded myself this is why I do what I do.

Emergency care is not just about quick hands and fast thinking. It’s about heart. About being present in the darkest moments of someone’s life and doing everything in your power to bring light.

Grateful for my team, for grace, and for the strength to keep showing up shift after shift.

When Birth Control Fails:
My IUCD Story

Never thought I’d be here — but I’m sharing this because someone else might need to hear it. I got pregnant with an IUCD in place. Yes, it can happen. Rare, but real.

IUCD failure can happen due to:
✔️ Device slipping out (without knowing)
✔️ Wrong placement
✔️ Already being pregnant at insertion
✔️ Perforation (rare but serious)

I’m sharing this not to scare anyone, but to raise awareness. If you ever feel something’s off, trust your body. Get checked. Follow up on your IUCD.

You’re not alone in this. Sending strength to anyone walking this unexpected path. 💕

📌CORD ROUND THE NECK OF YOUR BABY📌

This is called ‘NUCHAL CORD’. Nuchal cord is the medical term for when the umbilical cord becomes entangled 360 degrees around the neck of the baby inside the uterus.

NUCHAL CORDS are surprisingly common and unlikely to cause problems during pregnancy or at birth.

NUCHAL CORDS are oftentimes caused by BABY'S RANDOM MOVEMENTS in the uterus. Other causes can also be an:
EXTRA LONG CORD or
EXCESSIVE AMNIOTIC FLUID!

It is usually diagnosed at sometimes they can be seen on scan.
However seeing it on scan can't provide an intervention while the baby is still in the uterus.

NUCHAL CORDS are highly unlikely to cause problems during pregnancy and birth!
If noted at birth, its either slipped over the baby’s head ......or if extremely tight, it's clamp and cut, however in extreme cases, a CS is advised in order to save the life of your baby.

There are rare occasions where a nuchal cord can affect the blood flow, usually in labour, causing baby to become distressed! ......In this case INTERVENTION is recommended.
