INTRODUCING THE 82ND INAUGURAL LECTURER OF ABSU – PROF. UZOMA NWOKOCHAH (UZODADY)
Another historic academic milestone unfolds at Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU)!
The University community is set to celebrate a remarkable scholar and an administrator as Professor Uzoma Nwokochah takes the honour of delivering the 82nd Inaugural Lecture of this great institution.
Professor Uzoma Nwokochah is a distinguished scholar of Literary Studies and Post-structuralist criticism, whose intellectual contributions have continued to enrich conversations around African literature, culture, identity, and human experience.
A proud product of Abia State University, where he obtained his B.A. (Hons), M.A., and Ph.D., Professor Nwokochah represents the excellence ABSU continues to produce. Through years of teaching, research, mentorship, and academic service, he has contributed immensely to the growth of literary scholarship and the development of future generations of scholars.
On Wednesday, 19th August 2026, the University Auditorium will host academics, students, and distinguished guests as he delivers his inaugural lecture entitled:
“THE LIVING AND THE DEAD: Post-structural Aesthetics and the African Literary Experience.”
The lecture explores the relationship between the past and present methods of literary criticism, highlighting the superintendence of post structural criticism over traditional critical methods.
Beyond storytelling, literature remains a powerful tool for preserving heritage, challenging ideas, and helping society understand itself better. Through this lecture, Professor Nwokochah is expected to provide deeper insights into the evolving nature of African literary expression.
