Today we mourn the passing of Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly known as Fish Magnet, a young fish seller and entrepreneur from Ezinifite, Okpuno in Awka South, Anambra State. He was reportedly abducted at night from his home, a ransom was paid, but shockingly his lifeless body was found abandoned by the roadside a few days later . His death has sent waves of grief through his community, with many Nigerians expressing outrage over the worsening insecurity in the region .

In an old video that recently resurfaced, Fish Magnet had talked about the backlash he received from other fish sellers, explaining that they were angry because he lowered prices in the industry to benefit consumers . That compassionate spirit made him a standout figure among young entrepreneurs; his loss is deeply felt across social media and beyond .

Many who follow his story have shared heartfelt tributes. Some praised his hard work and integrity, others questioned how paying ransom could still lead to such a tragic end. A freelancer and fish farming friend recalled their final WhatsApp exchange, where Fish Magnet generously offered advice on starting a backyard fish farm. The pain of losing someone so bright and inspiring is echoed in every message: may his soul rest in perfect peace .
