AKANDE TAKES OFFICE AS COMMISSIONER FOR WATER RESOURCES AND PUBLIC SANITATION

In a bold move to strengthen service delivery in Ondo State, His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has announced the appointment of Hon. Samson Ayodele Akande, FCA, as the new Commissioner for Water Resources and Public Sanitation.

Hon. Akande was among the newly appointed commissioners who were recently inaugurated at the International Cultural and Event Centre (The DOME) in Akure. His appointment has since continued to generate widespread applause, particularly from the people of Akoko North West, who consider the development a significant win for the local government.

A chartered accountant and respected technocrat, Hon. Akande is known for his unwavering dedication to public service, accountability, and grassroots development. His new portfolio places him at the forefront of addressing one of the state’s most vital sectors—ensuring access to clean water, promoting environmental hygiene, and improving sanitation standards across communities.

A SYMBOL OF EXCELLENCE: AKANDE JOINS ONDO STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

Akoko North West is agog with celebration as one of its illustrious sons, Hon. Samson Ayodele Akande, FCA, a chartered accountant of repute, has been inaugurated and sworn in as a Commissioner in Ondo State by His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the Executive Governor of Ondo State.

The colourful event, which took place at the International Cultural and Event Centre (THE DOME) in Akure, was graced by notable personalities including the Ajana Afa of Okeagbe, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mofolorunsho Samuel Adegboyega Arasanyin; Chairman of Akoko North West Local Government, Hon. Esan Owolabi; Member representing Constituency 1 in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Fatai Atere; his counterpart from Constituency 2, Hon. Afe Felix; as well as the APC Chairman of Akoko North West, Hon. Kehinde Obanla (Ajapara); among several other dignitaries, supporters, and well-wishers.

This appointment is seen as a well-deserved recognition of Hon. Akande's outstanding commitment to service and excellence, both professionally and politically. A seasoned technocrat and grassroots mobiliser, Hon. Akande is undoubtedly a round peg in a round hole—a perfect fit for the role he has been called to play in the development of Ondo State.

BEATRICE MODUPE AJIBUWA SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME: PAVING THE WAY FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE IN OKEAGBE

The Beatrice Modupe Ajibuwa Scholarship Scheme, a remarkable initiative aimed at empowering young minds, was recently disbursed with great fanfare in Okeagbe. Sponsored by Ajibuwa Blessing Nwaene, a distinguished youth and student union leader and a former member of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, the scholarship program seeks to provide financial assistance to exceptional students committed to academic excellence and personal development.

In a heartwarming ceremony, Olabode Mosope Oloruntoba, Chairman of the Selection Committee, delivered a compelling welcome address, emphasizing the critical role education plays in shaping the future of individuals and communities. He underscored the scholarship’s mission to uplift talented students, encouraging them to continue their pursuit of excellence.

MISS OKEAGBE BEAUTY PAGEANT 2025.

INTRODUCTION:
As part of the lined up activities to celebrate Okeagbe's 100 years of existence. It will be coordinated by a team of 3 persons and a panel of judges of 5 will be selected.

AIM:
Pageant is aimed at celebrating our young ladies to showcasing the rich heritage, beauty, intelligence and excellence to the whole world. This will be loudly announced as the first community edition of the beauty pageant. This prestigious event is also aimed to empowering our young women, showcase their talents, and promote community pride.

ELIGIBILITY:
This beauty competition will be opened to educated indigenes of Okeagbe home and abroad with a minimum educational qualification of O'level with at least 6 credits including credit in English Language, between the ages of 18-25.

APPLICATION
We shall invite aspiring queens to participate in this extraordinary event through aggressive publicity on campuses in and around Ondo state.

To participate, interested candidates can obtain forms at OKEAGBE STUDENT UNION BUS STOP.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4TH, 2024.
