Short Biography of Maimartaba sarkin Ilorin .HRH was born into the highly esteemed family of Ilorin on 22nd of April 1940,HRH is of double and noble parentage because his father the 9th Emir Of Ilorin Sheu Sulqornaini bn Muhammad Laufe of blessed memory, was a prince while mother Alhaja Aishat the daughter of the 8th Emir of Ilorin, Sheu Abdulqodr Dan Bawa is a princess of the same ancestor _ Sheikh Soliu Alimi bn Janta RTA. They are descendants of the same grandfather, an ardent believer in islamic and western Education, put HRH under renowned islamic scholar in ilorin, the late malam salman popularly called Audu imole,for Quranic education in 1945,HRH showed his fast learning ability as early as his childhood days, HRH started his primary education at the United primary school ilorin,in 1957 and completed same at Omuaran Native Authority school. HRH gained admission to government secondary school, Zaria, now Barewa college, Zaria and Offa grammar school in 1957,His thoughtful and resourceful father decided that he should go to offa grammar school despite the attractive situations in Government college then. Such as free education etc. At the end of his fourth year at Offa grammar school in 1960,His father the 9th Emir Of Ilorin sent him to a school Oakham in the country of Rutland, England, to further his Education, At Oakham, HRH was faced with daunting environment and was only black student not only in class but in the school. Education career :HRH got to Oakham in the country of Rutland England in 1960 and passed the GCE O level in 1961,HRH enrolled for GCE, Advanced level in 1962 at west minster college, Victoria out with flying colours in 1963,and thus qualified for admission to study law. HRH faced his studies squarely and had no time for irresponsible activities, With the dint of hardworking and resolute determination HRH made the LLB Degree on 2nd class lower division in 1966,HRH was not satisfied with the first degree in Law,.He engaged in serious studies and passed the Master of Law Degree (LLM)of the Kings college, London in 1967,in the same year, HRH passed BL(Barrister at Law) at Hon.Society of the middle temple London. The professional qualifications in Law. This was a great feat.By the time he had the LLM and BL in the United Kingdom. HRH classmates in Nigeria were just finishing the first degree Another noteworthy feat in academic performance of HRH was when he was enrolled late (about 3 month late) at the Nigeria Law school for 1967/1968 session and still passed the prescribed examinations.HRH received the certificate as a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria enabling him to practice Law in Nigeria in 1968. Professional career :Having equipped himself adequately for legal practice, HRH served his pupilage at the chambers of that Legal luminary ,Legal colossus, Legal advocacy personified. Queens counsel (QC) Chief H O Davies of blessed memory, HRH made his mark promptly. His proficiency in legal practice was marvelous, HRH was accordingly elevated and assigned to handle litigation of different categories in court. Because of HRH ability and thoroughness in legal matters the principal asked the him to represent him on complex matters in court s. In dire quest for public service experience, HRH joined the then North Eastern state of Nigeria as a state Council in 1969.By dint of Hardwork he made progress in his career by January, 1975 HRH became principal state cancel Grade one.On march 15th 1976 HRH became the first permanent secretary ,ministry of justice, solicitor General of newly created Gongola state. On 1st January ,1977 HRH was appointed Acting judge of the High court of Bauchi, Borno and Gongola states. To work as a judge of high court in three states that are hundreds of kilometers away was tasking .The work was enormous as the responsibilties were prodigious. HRH shuttled between these states even at odd hours to ensure that court proceeding were held as at when due. Rough roads and bad weather did not deter HRH in accomplishing his set goals .it a only a man with proven could be entrusted with such high level of responsibility. As far back as 1973 HRH has been appearing at the Supreme Court for cases involving North Eastern state of Nigeria, in a celebrated criminal case. The then Chief Justice of Nigeria, Sir Alexander. presiding justice remarked in his judgement on 15th March 1976,As follows: "we noticed the formidable Forbrightnes of the Learned solicitor General of Gongola state" The Learned solicitor General under reference was Barrister I .S Gambari whose high level of advocacy was acknowledge By the then Chief Justice of Nigeria. On June 8th 1978 HRH was appointed a substantive judge of High court of Borno State. His enviable track records as a substantive judge earned him at 43 years the appointment as justice of the court of appeal Ibadan Division, On 2nd January, 1983 ,HRH served in this capacity meritoriously for Eight years. By July 1991 HRH was appointed presiding justice of Lagos Division of the court of appeal, HRH held the post creditably up till his appointment as the 11th Emir of Ilorin on 18th August 1995,HRH was confered with the National Award of commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFR) in the year 2000 by former president of Nigeria, General olusegun obasanjo .HRH was appointed the chancellor of the Nnamdi Azikwe university Awka.Anambra state in 2001and was honored with Doctorate Degree of Law, Honoris Causa, of the same university on 1st July, 2002.Maimartba sarkin Ilorin was the Head of the planning and implementation committee that handled the Sokoto Caliphate centenary celebration.
