BARKIN-LADI FIRST LADY LAUNCHES THE SEASONAL MALARIA CHEMO-PREVENTION(SMC) EXERCISE; DISTRIBUTES FREE DIAPERING ESSENTIALS TO NURSING MOTHERS
The First Lady of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Ngo. Elizabeth Pwajok, has launched the Seasonal Malaria Chemo-prevention (SMC) exercise at the Primary Health Care (PHC) Secretariat in Barkin Ladi.
Accompanied by Hajiya Binta Hamisu Hanani, wife of the ALGON Chairman, Ngo. Elizabeth Pwajok commended stakeholders in the health sector for their dedication to providing quality healthcare services to communities. She specifically praised the Malaria Consortium for sponsoring the SMC drugs, which will significantly reduce malaria prevalence, especially among children. The First Lady urged mothers to bring their children between the ages 3 months to less than 5 years for the free, safe, and effective malaria drugs.
Ngo. Elizabeth Pwajok also appreciated most importantly His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, alongside his wife, Barr. Helen Mutfwang, and the Executive Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Da Hon. Pwajok Stephen Gyang, for prioritizing the health sector.
Hajiya Binta Hamisu Hanani echoed her voice during the program, advising women to participate in the exercise and commending the Malaria Consortium and stakeholders for their efforts to combat malaria.
Goodwill messages were received from prominent figures, including Gwom Rwei Gwol, Da. Edward Gyang, Hon. Polycarp Sabo, Supervisory Councillor for Health, and Mrs. Nanko Goteng, Director of Health.
The program which drew a large attendance of traditional rulers, religious leaders, directors, political appointees, and many critical stakeholders, ended with the distribution of diapering essentials to nursing mothers in their numbers, from within the local government.
