The marriages of today are highly troubled. The dynamics are in the attitudes each partner has, the mental pictures of how it should or shouldn't be, and the world's standards set instead of God's standards. The problem is, God understands that you will face challenges, and He gave laws to help hold marriage up. Today, people's standards are causing serious issues. Learn to understand that God wants the best for families and homes because, in heaven, we also have family - a family that reflects His heavenly standard.
Apostle Paul admonished that if you cannot bear the challenges that come with marriage, it is better not to marry. And if you do marry, you do not sin (1 Corinthians 7:28). Out of 24 cases taken to court, 22 are for divorce. What was the standard for your marriage? What was the underlying factor for choosing your partner? Once the motive is wrong, everything will be wrong. But in all your standards, set Godly standards. Marriage is honorable, and the bed undefiled (Hebrews 13:4).
It is better to marry early and marry right; it is better to marry late and marry right. It is better to marry the man God speaks to you about than the image in your mind (the one you carved for yourself). If Joseph had disobeyed the leading of the Spirit, who would have helped Mary during her pregnancy? Who would have helped transport the child to Egypt? Who you marry will help you during your stormy times or leave you in the cold, naked, during your trying times. God sees the future better than you do. Pick according to His standards, not according to your own graven image. Ponder!
