Media and Development Conference'23.

Theme: Bridging Democracy, Innovation and Media Sustainability in West Africa.

Industry experts are dealing with salient issues around Navigating Income Inequality, Economic Stagnation and Future Work, Advancing Innovative Ways and Practices to Reduce Maternal and Neo-natal Mortality amongst others.

Speakers were drawn from the Media, Civil Society Organizations Community, Education Sector, Tech, Health sector, etc.

iVerify Project 

Excited to be among the 27 Journalists shortlisted for training by the International Press Center (IPC),with support from the UNDP ahead of the off -cycle elections in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo States.

IPC launched the iVerify project, a platform that equips  journalists to  counter misinformation and provide accurate information to citizens.

The workshop is the kick-off of the IPC’s iVerify project, which is supported by the United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP),held at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. 

The workshop was aimed at equipping journalists from the print, electronic and online media with the necessary skills to ensure factual accuracy of news and enhance the credibility of electoral information.

Taiwo Obe, Founder, Journalism Clinic took journalists through the "art of questioning in journalism",while  David Ajikobi, Editor, Africa Check introduced Journalists to Fact-checking tools and their workings.

Lanre Arogundade, the ED, IPC insisted that, journalists must at all times maintain the integrity and credibility of the election process through their reportage.

As a communications professional, I have realized that being knowledgeable about various aspects of the industry is crucial. And when I found myself in a new role with even higher expectations, I knew I needed to upskill in order to deliver effectively.
