Live a Life of Love for Others, to Make Heaven - Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor Urges Awka Catholic Faithful

The parishioners and the friends of St Peter's Catholic Parish, Nkwelle Awka, gathered to receive the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, who was on Pastoral visit to the Parish.

The event, which took place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, attracted religious men and top government officials, among whom were the Chancellor of the Diocese, Rev Fr Charles Ndubisi; and the Executive Chairman, Awka South Local Government Area of the state, Hon. Prince Chinedu Okafor.

In his homily during a Holy Mass for the epoch-making event, the Catholic Bishop admonished the St Peter's parishioners to emulate Jesus Christ, whom he said, was a king but for love, chose death to save sinful mankind from total condemnation.

'Through this, Christ shows us the greatest sacrifice, which is love, for the world,' the Bishop told the St Peter's parishioners, urging them to live a life of love for others without discrimination.

The Prelate, who hinted that love for an enemy might be hard, however, encouraged the parishioners to strive to love everyone they came in contact with, at least, for the sake of making heaven.

Chief Shepherd of Awka Diocese thanked them for their services in the church and the relationship between them and their priests: the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Donatus Esiegbue and the assisting priests: Frs. Robert Angelo Obiakor and Patrick Umezi.

He expressed satisfaction with the level of physical and spiritual developments in the church which he said, manifests in the number, 183 candidates, confirmed during the event.

Details of the event in which the Parish honoured some individuals in recognition of their distinguished services to God and humanity, will be published in the next edition of Fides Newspaper.
