Trauma isn't just something that happens to your mind. It's something that lives in your body. Shaping the way you feel, act and respond to the world.
Trauma leaves a deep imprint on your entire nervous system.
It's not just the memories of the event that haunt you, but the way your body reacts, even when you actually feel safe.
Trauma teaches your body to stay in a constant state of alert, as if danger is just around the corner.
That's where the real struggle begins. You are trapped, not only by your past, but by your body's reaction to it. It feels like you are no longer in control. Your body reacts before you could even think.
Trauma create patterns, helplessness, fear and hypervigilance.
Some people become completely dissociated from their body and the emotions.
You might feel stuck, constantly replaying the past, unable to move forward.
But the good news is, just as Trauma can rewire your body's responses, healing can do the same.
So where will you start from? Do you want to heal and live a calm peaceful life free from any sort of disease or you are going to keep blaming everyone that has ever hurt you?
You can join our trauma informed care for practitioners coming up on the 21st of march 2025 for just 25k

About a month ago, I received a call from a woman who was referred to me by a concerned friend. The friend had reached out to me initially, expressing deep worry about her friend's mental state and offering to cover the costs of therapy sessions. During our 15-minute conversation, I assessed that the woman was struggling with suicidal thoughts, which she had been experiencing for over a year. I emphasized the importance of seeking professional help and reassured her that with therapy, she could overcome her challenges.

Tragically, the next day, her friend informed me that the woman had declined therapy, believing that prayer alone would suffice. Despite her friend's best efforts, she couldn't persuade her to seek help. Two weeks ago, the woman took her own life. May she rest in peace.

This heartbreaking experience underscores the critical importance of seeking professional help for mental health struggles. Many people downplay the value of therapy, believing they can overcome their challenges alone. But the truth is, mental health struggles can be overwhelming, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Don't wait until you hit rock bottom – reach out for support today.

Your body intuitively knows who's safe to love,

Even before your brain catches up. Dr. Stephen Porges' groundbreaking research reveals that love originates in the nervous system, not the brain. Our nervous system constantly scans for safety or danger cues from others, influencing how we respond. This 'neuroception' process explains why we feel an instant sense of safety or unease around certain people.

When we feel safe, our nervous system relaxes, and our body prepares for connection. However, trauma can disrupt this process, making it harder to recognize genuine safety signals. Fortunately, consistent positive experiences with others can rewire our nervous system to recognize safety again.

This concept of 'co-regulation' – where two nervous systems calm each other – is key to healing relationships. It occurs naturally through responsive facial expressions, gentle eye contact, attuned presence, and kind voice tones. By understanding the biology of connection, we can create authentic safety in our relationships, which is essential for building trust and fostering deep connections.

Ultimately, Dr. Porges' work shows that healthy relationships aren't just about communication or shared interests, but about creating a biological environment where both partners feel safe and relaxed. By prioritizing authentic safety and connection, we can tap into the profound healing power of genuine, caring relationships.
