ONE SCENE SCREENPLAY
EXT. ANCIENT FOREST – TWILIGHT
The air is thick. Trees whisper secrets. Otuekong steps into the sacred forest clearing, his eyes steady, fists clenched. Behind him, strange winds circle like spirits recognizing blood.
EMEH (O.S.)
(voice sharp, echoing)
You dare come here alone, Otuekong?
She steps out from the shadows, dressed in a long deep red wrap, holding a staff carved with ancient symbols. Her eyes glow faintly.
OTUEKONG
You called me, didn’t you? I came to end what our parents started… before it consumes us.
EMEH
(approaches slowly)
Or maybe… you came to see if you’re truly your mother’s son.
OTUEKONG
(stern)
I didn’t come to prove anything. I came because the skies cracked open last night. The same storm danced in both our dreams.
EMEH
(firm)
A storm sent by the ancestors. Because blood must answer blood.
OTUEKONG
(staring her down)
But whose blood?
A sudden GUST of wind swirls between them. Leaves fly like blades. Thunder crashes — loud and near.
EMEH
Your mother destroyed the sacred stream of Eten. My father sealed her away from the seven hills. But now… now she walks again.
OTUEKONG
That stream held dark secrets! She did what she had to. But your father… he buried truth beneath tradition.
EMEH
(laughs bitterly)
Truth? Or fear of power greater than his own?
The wind halts. Silence. Then suddenly—
OTUEKONG
(slowly)
I feel it in my bones. They want us to fight. But not for them. For something older…
EMEH
(steps closer)
The eclipse comes in three days. And only one bloodline will survive it.
OTUEKONG
Then let it be decided tonight.
Otuekong raises his hand. His veins glow faint red. The earth trembles. Birds SCATTER. Emeh slams her staff down, and a blue shield flashes around her.
EMEH
Careful, son of Ikwo. Power used in anger always returns.
OTUEKONG
(gritted teeth)
This isn’t anger. It’s awakening.
A low growl echoes from beneath the earth. Trees twist. The ground cracks slightly between them. Their powers rise, swirling in the air – red flame and blue storm. They prepare to clash—
VOICE (O.S.)
Enough!
A blinding light explodes. Both are thrown backward. A SHADOWY FIGURE floats above them—part fire, part mist. Ikwo and Ete Ibanang’s voices speak in unison from it.
VOICE (CONT’D)
If our hate is reborn through you, the world will burn in silence. Choose. Unity… or oblivion.
Otuekong and Emeh look at each other. Bruised. Breathing hard. Hands still glowing with inherited rage… but eyes—uncertain.
OTUEKONG
(slowly lowering his hand)
Then let us end it not with fire… but with truth.
EMEH
And tradition… rewritten.
Their hands meet. Red and blue energy swirl into white light. The wind calms. The trees stand still. Somewhere in the forest, a bird sings.
FADE OUT.
