Before Steve Harvey became one of America’s most recognizable entertainers, he went through a period when success seemed incredibly far away.
While struggling to build his career as a comedian, Harvey has said he was homeless for roughly three years and sometimes slept in his car. With little money and an uncertain future, he continued traveling and performing wherever he could get an opportunity.
During those difficult years, Harvey says his faith helped him keep going. He recalled making a promise to God: if he ever made it, he would tell people who he believed was responsible for his success.
Years later, Harvey became a successful comedian, television host, author and radio personality.
Looking back at his journey, he has continued giving credit to his faith, saying, “I’m telling you: it was Him.”
His story is a powerful example of perseverance, faith and continuing forward when circumstances seem hopeless.
