*Topic:*
*Leadership Pitfalls*

*Text:* 2 Chronicles 33:1-9
33:1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem: 33:2 But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel. 33:3 For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. 33:4 Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever. 33:5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. 33:6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. 33:7 And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever: 33:8 Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses. 33:9 So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel.

*Memory Verse:*
Psalms 16:6
The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

*Brief Commentary*
When Manasseh ascended the throne at twelve, he led in contrast to his Father Hezekiah. Instead of guiding the people toward God, he led Judah commit evils worse than the nations God had previously
destroyed (v.9). Manasseh reversed his father's reforms by rebuilding high places and establishing altars for Baals (v.3). He desecrated the Temple with evil altars (vv.4-5). He sacrificed his own son, practiced sorcery sought divination, all of which angered the Lord deeply (v.6). This passage cautions us to be wary of the influence of our leaders. Leaders must first submit to God by allowing Him shape their decisions.
We, as children and followers are encouraged to honour and uphold godly legacies rather than dismantling them. When leaders destroy the godly legacies handed to them, they have fallen. We Should endeavor to preserve the legacies of faith handed down to us.

*Declaration*
*We will not destroy the godly legacies we have inherited. We will build on them and strive to pass them down to the next generation*

*Prayer*
Lord, help us to lead others towards faith and not astray. Grant us grace to preserve godly legacies.

*Topic:*
*Beware of Ungodly Association*

*Text:* 2 Chronicles 32:27-33

*Memory Verse:*
2 Corinthians 6:14

*Brief Commentary*
Hezekiah was blessed with great riches and success by God (vv.27-30), and kept prospering in all his endeavors. However, when envoys from the king of Babylon visited him, God withdrew His presence to test Hezekiah's heart (v.31). Instead of maintaining his humility by acknowledging God, Hezekiah proudly showed the envoys all his treasures (Isaiah 39:1-8). When confronted by Isaiah, Hezekiah showed indifference to the prophecy on the consequences for his actions (vv.32-33). This teaches us the danger of ungodly associations; those we allow into our inner circle can influence us negatively and lead us into pride and disobedience. God's tests often reveal our hearts, so, we should be cautious about who we open ourselves to. Let us also be quick to heed correction because ignoring God's rebuke can lead to dire consequences. We are called to keep our relationships aligned with godly values and let every association pass through the scrutiny and approval of the Holy Spirit.

Declaration:
*We declare that we will not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of scoffers; we are protected from the influence of the ungodly.*

*Prayer:*
Lord, help us to know when to speak and when to be quiet. ( Protect us from the temptation to be ostentatious.)

*Topic:*
*Dealing with Pride*

*Text:* 2 Chronicles 32:20-26
32:20 And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven. 32:21 And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword. 32:22 Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side. 32:23 And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth. 32:24 In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the LORD: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign. 32:25 But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem. 32:26 Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

*Memory Verse:*
1 Peter 5:6-7
5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

*Brief Commentary*
In today's passage, King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah cry out to God for help against the Assyrian king, Sennacherib (v.20). God responds by sending an Angel to destroy the Assyrian army and forcing Sennacherib to retreat in shame (v.21). The people of Judah were saved and Hezekiah's fame spreads as other nations bring gifts to him praising God (w.22-23). However, pride enters into Hezekiah because of his achievements. In his pride, he forgets the source of his success which is, God's grace. But after rebuke, Hezekiah humbles himself and repents to avert God's wrath (vv 24. 26). This passage teaches us that, as God blesses us and grants us victories, we must guard against pride. Hezekiah's pride led him to, dangerous point of collapse, but his repentance restored his relationship with God. Likewise, we must remain humble because all we have is by God's grace; pride only brings a person down (Proverbs 29:23).

*Declaration:*
"We affirm that we are absolutely nothing without God Therefore, we reject pride and guard our hearts against it by staying humble before our God in all things*

*Prayer*
O Lord, deliver us from the spirit of pride again and again.

*Returning to God Brings Blessing*

*Text:* 2 Chronicles 31:1-10
31:1 Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and brake the images in pieces, and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities. 31:2 And Hezekiah appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites after their courses, every man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the tents of the LORD. 31:3 He appointed also the king's portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD. 31:4 Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD. 31:5 And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly. 31:6 And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated unto the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps. 31:7 In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. 31:8 And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his people Israel. 31:9 Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps. 31:10 And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: for the LORD hath blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.

*Memory Verse:*
Jeremiah 4:1-2
4:1 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove. 4:2 And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

*Brief Commentary*
In 2 Chronicles 31, after celebrating the Passover, King Hezekiah led the people to destroy the idols in their towns (v.1). He then assigned duties to the priests and Levites to maintain the spiritual practices of worship (v.2). Hezekiah also made contributions for the required sacrifices and commanded the people to bring their tithes, first fruits, and other produce (v.3). The people obeyed willingly and brought in abundant offerings (v.48) to show that they knew that the blessings they received are from God. God's favor was evident in the abundance they experienced (v.10). Just as God blessed the Israelites when they returned to Him, He promises to bless us when we choose to turn back to Him, put away our idols and live according to His will (Jeremiah 4:1-2). Returning to God is always met with His blessing. When we forsake our idols and return to Him, we invite His favor into our lives. Let us remember that when we honor God with our lives, He will pour out His blessings upon us in abundance.

*Declaration:*
*We resolve to stay in the Lord continually and refuse to go astray so that His blessings will rest upon our lives forever*

*Prayer:*
Father, help us identify every seed of backsliding in our lives and to cast them off.

*Obeying the Last Command*

*Text* Genesis 50: 1-14
50:1 And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him. 50:2 And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Israel. 50:3 And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days. 50:4 And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying, 50:5 My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again. 50:6 And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear. 50:7 And Joseph went up to bury his father: and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt, 50:8 And all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house: only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen. 50:9 And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very great company. 50:10 And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which is beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days. 50:11 And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abelmizraim, which is beyond Jordan. 50:12 And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them: 50:13 For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre. 50:14 And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

*Memory Verse:*
Genesis 50:12
And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:

*Brief Commentary*
After Jacob's passing, Joseph ensured that his father was embalmed as he was moumed for seventy days (vv.1-3). Joseph then sought Pharaoh's permission to bury Jacob in Canaan to fulfill his father’s last request (vv.46) Pharaoh granted this request and a large group accompanied Joseph and his brothers to Canaan but observing seven days of mourning at the threshing floor of Atad (vv.7-11). Finally, they buried Jacob at the place he had instructed them (vv.12-14). The key lesson from this passage is that Jacob's sons faithfully obeyed his final wish. Similarly, Jesus gave us a final command before
His ascension in Matthew 28:19-20; to go and make disciples of all nations. We are called to obey this command as faithfully as Jacob's sons did. As believers, we are to be obedient to the commands of Christ. His last command is a charge to all of us, urging us to spread His message and make disciples. Obedience to God's commands is our act of love and devotion to Him, it aligns our actions with His will always.

*Declaration*
*We declare that we shall give priority to the great commission as we carry out the command to make disciples of all nations for Him*

*Prayer*
Help us Lord, to obey every command You give and be consistent in so doing.
