The Urgent Call for Oro Leaders: Addressing the Non-Implementation of the University of Maritime Studies, Oron

For years, the promise of the University of Maritime Studies, Oron (UMSO) has remained largely unfulfilled, leaving the community and aspiring maritime professionals in a state of uncertainty. Despite announcements and commitments, the institution’s full implementation has stalled, raising concerns about the future of maritime education and economic opportunities in the region.

When Music Became Prophecy: A Tribute to the Messenger of Truth — Prophet Zion (a.k.a. Kpai Kpai Master)

There are voices that entertain, and there are voices that awaken generations voices that rise above melody to challenge oppression, expose hypocrisy, and speak truth with fearless conviction. One such voice belongs to Prophet Zion, fondly known as the Kpai Kpai Master, a living legend of Roots Reggae, whose music continues to inspire consciousness, peace, and revolution.

Emerging in the early 2000s, Prophet Zion began making waves with a string of powerful songs that quickly became anthems of awakening. Through each release, he combined rhythm and revelation, carrying a message that resonated deeply with people yearning for truth, justice, and spiritual clarity.

More than just a singer, Prophet Zion is a messenger of truth, a teacher, a poet, and a voice of conscience. His music challenges falsehood, religious hypocrisy, and social injustice, reminding listeners that righteousness is not in appearance, but in action; not in words, but in truth.

He has never been afraid to call out the emptiness of hollow religious practices or the pretense of morality within both the church and the larger society. Yet, even in his criticism, his heart beats with love, unity, and hope, preaching that peace begins with honesty and that freedom starts from within.

For Prophet Zion, music is not just art; it is a ministry. Every lyric is a sermon, every beat a heartbeat of conscience. His songs are both spiritual and revolutionary, carrying the soul of reggae and the strength of conviction that moves people to reflection and change.

As he continues to make music and shape minds, I call on the Akwa Ibom State’s entertainment stakeholders, from musicians and producers to promoters, DJs, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism — to stand together and celebrate this living legend. His work represents the best of what art can achieve: truth, awakening, and transformation.

Let us not wait until the silence of time to give flowers. Let us honor Prophet Zion, the Kpai Kpai Master, now, while his voice still echoes truth and his message still burns bright.

He remains a living symbol of reggae with purpose, a messenger of peace, love, and revolution, proof that when music carries truth, it becomes prophecy.
