OKOBO’S HENSHAW GETS INFRASTRUCTURE AWARD NOMINATION

The Executive Chairman of Okobo Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Engr. George Henshaw, has been nominated for the 2026 Nigeria Local Government Chairman Merit Award (LOGMA2026) in the Infrastructure Category.

The nomination recognises his administration’s deliberate commitment to infrastructural development and its efforts to reposition Okobo Local Government Area through visible, functional and impactful projects.

Since assuming office, the Henshaw administration has embarked on the development, renovation and remodelling of critical public infrastructure across the Local Government Area.

Among the major projects are the Pastor Umo Eno Legislative Block, Okobo ICT Centre, Okobo Mini Stadium and Atak-Oro Modern Market, alongside the remodelling of Obio Ufre, renovation of the Council Hall and remodelling of offices across the Council Secretariat.

These projects go beyond physical structures. They represent investments in effective governance, youth development, education, digital access, sports, commerce and the overall socioeconomic development of Okobo.

The Nigeria Local Government Chairman Merit Award (LOGMA2026) nomination therefore provides an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate these efforts while placing Okobo’s developmental strides on a broader platform.

The Executive Chairman of Okobo Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Engr. George Henshaw, has congratulated Akparawa (Elder) Iniabasi Ekanem on his inauguration as the 12th International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio.

In a goodwill message signed by the Chairman and made available to newsmen through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Victor Paul Unoh, Rt. Hon. Henshaw described Elder Ekanem's emergence as "a testament to your integrity, capacity, and unwavering commitment to the Ibibio nation."

The Chairman expressed confidence that the new International President's leadership "will foster unity, promote our rich cultural heritage, and inspire greater progress for Ibibio people at home and in the diaspora." He also prayed God to grant him wisdom, strength, and divine guidance for a successful and impactful tenure.

The Executive Chairman of Okobo Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Engr. George Henshaw, has extended warm birthday felicitations to the Honourable Commissioner for Sanitation and Water Resources, Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Ubuo Effiong Ubuo, in celebration of his birthday.

In a goodwill message signed by the Chairman and made available through his Chief Press Secretary, Victor Paul Unoh, Chairman Henshaw described Dr. Ubuo as an exceptional public servant, seasoned administrator, and distinguished son of Okobo whose unwavering commitment to leadership and development has left an enduring legacy in the Local Government and Akwa Ibom State.

The Chairman applauded Dr. Ubuo's impactful tenure as former Executive Chairman of Okobo Local Government Area and commended his continued dedication to advancing environmental sanitation and sustainable water resource management in Akwa Ibom State.
