Addressing the AkwaCross Artist Inclusion in the Davido Show Performance

I’ve read several posts where some Cross Riverians are expressing their displeasure over the non-inclusion of some of their music stars on the performance list for Davido’s in Uyo.

While I totally understand their pain in missing out on such a big platform, I’d like to ask a few honest questions — not as an art manager or a key player in the entertainment industry, but as a concerned AkwaCross son.

Now, I may not fully know the kind of existing relationship between the Cross River and Akwa Ibom entertainment indu$tries — their collab0ration patterns or how things generally work within the r£gional entertainment ecosystem.

But I’ve heard people mention the Calabar Carnival, and how Akwa Ibom artistes are usually given opportunities to perform on that stage — which is one of the biggest in the entire South-South region.

If that’s true (which I believe it is), then it clearly shows there has been an existing collaborative relationship between both states as far as entertainment is concerned.

Before I ask my main questions, let’s clarify something important:
Calabar Carnival is a state-owned event.
While is a private show owned by Davido.

He is the one who has the right to decide where to host it, how it should run, and who performs and I believe Akwa Ibom entertainment industry lobbied to have their artistes there, which Davido reportedly agreed.

Now, this is not me trying to make excuses for Akwa Ibom’s entertainment industry — especially if Cross River’s industry has indeed been fair and accommodating to us in the past.

But here’s my question:
The Akwa Ibom artistes who perform on the Calabar Carnival stage — how exactly do they get access?

Is it that the Cross River State G0vernment creates a special slot for artistes from Akwa Ibom as a sister state?
Or do those artistes lobby, negotiate, or even pay their way to be included?

If there’s a special provision by CRS to accommodate Akwa Ibom artistes during Carnival, then yes — this anger is justified. And I’ll boldly say Akwa Ibom’s entertainment industry acted unfairly.

However, if our artistes usually hustle their way individually onto that stage, then that’s exactly what Cross River artistes should have done too.

Again, did the leaders of Cross River’s entertainment industry reach out to their Akwa Ibom counterparts when they heard about Davido’s show — to demand inclusion for their artistes, especially if there was room for local performers?

Sometimes, we just need to ask.
Even the Bible says: “Ask, and you shall receive.”
Not sit back expecting opportunities to fall into our laps. Every artistes needs a stage as big as a Davido’s show. Did you guys express interest?🙄

Because honestly, with the way some Cross Riverians have been antagonistic toward Akwa Ibom people on social media recently, maybe some folks here assumed you all might not even be interested in the Davido show since it’s holding in Uyo.

But if you guys actually reached out, and were ignored or denied access — then it’s totally wrong.
I no support that one at all.

I strongly believe in AkwaCross Unity.
We should be one family — because we are brothers and sisters. ❤️

I don't think you should just stay back in Calabar and assume, did you reach out? Did you ask what really happened?

I feel it's important we ask questions and get answers so this won't repeat itself in the future.
I believe we Akwa Ibomites love our brothers and sisters from Cross River. I strongly believe so!
