WHO'S A CHRISTIAN: A QUICK REMINDER.!
Christians are followers of Jesus Christ who believe in His teachings and strive to live according to the principles He set forth in the Bible. Christianity is centered on the belief that Jesus is the Son of God, the Savior of humanity, who was crucified, died, and was resurrected to offer salvation to all who believe in Him.
As a Christian or a gospel preacher, you are expected to preach the following core messages: And anything out of these are heresies, not the gospel.
The Gospel of Salvation: This is the good news that Jesus Christ died for the sins of humanity, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Preachers are called to proclaim this message, inviting others to repent, believe in Jesus, and receive eternal life (John 3:16).
The Love of God: Emphasize God's unconditional love for all people (John 3:16; 1 John 4:7-8). A preacher should teach that God’s love is the foundation of the Christian faith and that believers are called to love others as God loves them (Matthew 22:37-39).
Repentance and Forgiveness: Encourage people to turn away from their sins, seek God’s forgiveness, and live a life that pleases Him (Acts 2:38; 1 John 1:9). This message also includes extending forgiveness to others, as Jesus taught in the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:14-15).
The Kingdom of God: Preach about the Kingdom of God, which Jesus frequently spoke of. This includes teaching about God's reign in the hearts of believers and His ultimate plan to restore all things (Matthew 6:33; Mark 1:15).
Living a Christ-like Life: Instruct believers on how to live in a way that reflects the character of Christ—showing humility, compassion, and righteousness (Philippians 2:5; Galatians 5:22-23).
The Great Commission: Encourage the congregation to participate in the mission of spreading the Gospel to all nations (Matthew 28:19-20). This includes evangelism, discipleship, and being a witness to others in word and doctrine
The Second Coming of Christ: Teach about the hope of Jesus' return, encouraging believers to live in expectation and preparedness for His second coming (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 22:12).
Biblical Truth and Doctrine: Uphold and teach sound doctrine, ensuring that the congregation understands the core beliefs of Christianity and can discern truth from error (2 Timothy 4:2-4; Titus 1:9).
As a preacher of the gospel, your role is to faithfully deliver these messages, guided by the Holy Spirit, and to shepherd your congregation in their spiritual growth.
