Governor Eno Breathes New Life into Ibom Plaza: A Fresh Heart for Uyo’ City Centre

Forum of Social Media Administrators and Influencers Akwa Ibom State has showered praise on His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno PhD for giving the state city center -Ibom Plaza a new fresh look.

The Chairman of the Forum Comrade Bassey Samuel Jnr, Publisher, Ibomplaza News Blog in a statement expressed delight that after three decades of construction, Governor Umo Eno administration officially unveiled the strategy for revamped Ibom Plaza , turning a long‑neglected landmark into a vibrant public hub.

Comrade Samuel noted that the closure of the Ibom Plaza Community for renovation works is nothing but a bold statement of progress and good governance for Akwa Ibom.

The project which is ongoing has already restored the plaza’s historic façade while weaving in modern amenities.

A wide, tree‑lined walkway now circles a sparkling central fountain, and energy‑efficient LED lighting bathes the area in a warm glow after dusk.

The Forum said that the gesture is preserving Akwa Ibom heritage while embracing the future.

He said the renovation has made the Indigenous landscaping blends seamlessly with the urban design, offering a serene spot for families and youths to unwind.

“This is a place where our people can gather, relax and reconnect,” Bassey said .

The buzz around the Plaza is real this a promise fulfilled, and Governor Umo Eno PhD is walking the talk.

Governor Umo Eno PhD toured the plaza complex last week, checking on restored fountains, fresh landscaping , additional couches on the walls make the Plaza more secure and the new solar‑powered lights that are already turning night into a safer, brighter vibe .

One could agree that what's going on at plaza Is not just a facelift; the team is adding an amphitheatre, reactivated the big screen for movies and football, and a dedicated relaxation hub with shaded seating and a coffee kiosk.

What makes this renovation feel different is the governor’s “ARISE Agenda” backdrop: the goal is to turn the plaza into a smart, tourist‑friendly landmark that showcases Akwa Ibom’s culture while boosting the local economy.

Chairman, Uyo Capital Development Authority UCCDA Rt. Hon Anietie Eka hinted that by currently sealing off sections, the administration is buying quality, focus not just speed, and they’re aiming to have the plaza ready for the public by December ending.

Residents who have watched the site sit idle for years are already feeling the shift. “We’ve missed this place, so far we have already know that Plaza will be more beautiful than before ” says one longtime trader, “and seeing the lights and hearing the plans for live performances gives us hope for more foot traffic and better relaxation.”

The governor also added security patrols and surveillance cameras which are also a welcome reassurance, promising a safer environment for families and visitors alike.

The Forum commended Pastor Umo Eno, Rt Hon. Anietia Eka, Chairman, Uyo Capital Development Authority UCCDA for turning a once‑neglected spot into a vibrant cultural hub that aligns with the original vision of the Attah era.

We have noticed that as the work is ongoing , fun seekers and the community are already lining up to enjoy the amenable IbomPlaza.

So, while the paint is still drying, the picture is clear: Ibom Plaza is on the brink of reclaiming its title as the heartbeat of Uyo, shining brighter than ever and ready to welcome the festive season with open arms.
