Crazy things are happening, Yesterday evening in Owerri, I arrested a man who constantly abuses his wife & children physically.

His wife is a FUTO Lecturer doing well for herself and respected in the community, however, the husband fees she is a nobody and constantly abuses her.

Two days ago, he involved cultists with guns & knives to deal with his kids ruthlessly while he battered his wife.

He was arrested and detained, charges would also be pressed, crazier to think this man was a government appointee and he is claiming ā€˜Honorable with contacts’, he will learn that where his contacts end is where another persons own starts.

This happened at Umuguma Axis of Owerri, things like this must be fought to a standstill.

ā€˜N77k allawee’: FG pays Corps members N33,000 for September

The Federal Government has unexpectedly paid National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members their old monthly allowance of ₦33,000 for September, despite the recently approved increase to ₦77,000.

This has left many corps members frustrated and disappointed.

The Federal Government officially announced an increase in the NYSC monthly allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000, effective from July 2024, in line with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.

NYSC Director General Brigadier General YD Ahmed had expressed his appreciation, noting that the raise would provide financial relief and motivate corps members.

However, the delay in implementing this new allowance for September has caused concern among corps members, who were anticipating the higher payment.

According to reports, not all corps members have received their allowances yet, but those who have were credited with the old ₦33,000 amount.

ā€œThey haven’t paid yet, but those around me who received theirs got ₦33,000 instead of the promised ₦77,000,ā€ one corps member shared.

Recall Tribune Online reported that the federal government had confirmed the increase in the NYSC allowance.

In a statement issued by Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, it was announced that the monthly stipend for corps members would be raised to ₦77,000, starting from July 2024, in line with the Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.

The statement read: ā€œThe Federal Government has approved the increase of corps members’ monthly allowance to seventy-seven thousand naira (₦77,000), with effect from July 2024, in accordance with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.ā€

The delay in delivering the increased allowance has triggered anger on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter).

Many Nigerians are expressing their frustration, as they had expected the NYSC allowance to rise folloFGwing President Bola Tinubu’s announcement of a new minimum wage of ₦70,000, fueling hopes that the corps members’ allowance would match the ₦77,000 figure.

The government’s inaction has led to widespread disappointment and outcry across the country.

Empty Streets today in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital

Major streets in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital are empty as fuel scarcity bites harder. What that means is that economic activities in oil rich state has temporarily been put on hold as strike by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) over the seizure of a tankers by the Joint Task Force (JTF) continues unfettered.

A shop keeper in Uyo told reporters that "This is unbearable! I have had to close my shop for three days because my customers can't find means to come and buy from me. Even the little I have in my fridge is getting bad because there is no light,".

Others said that the fuel scarcity has had a ripple effect on every aspect of daily life, with school and work attendance taking a hit as people are unable to commute. Even hospitals have not been spared from the consequences of the crisis, as ambulances are unable to transport patients in need of critical care.

NLC SPEAKS

The crippling effect of the ongoing strike in Akwa Ibom has prompted the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to announce that they will commence a "sit-at-homeā€ this evening. This was confirmed in a statement signed by the NLC Chairman, Comrade Sunny James, who expressed deep concern over the situation and called for urgent intervention by relevant authorities.

GOVERNMENT KEEPS MUM

Government agencies that regulate petroleum products has remained silent on the matter despite the growing outrage from citizens and the NLC's protest announcement. The absence of a statement or public address from the agencies and Akwa Ibom Government has fueled concerns over the government's handling of the situation, as many fear that the prolonged crisis could have dire consequences for the state's economy and overall well-being.

"We are tired of this silence from those who should talk. We want answers and action now. This is affecting the livelihoods of every person in this state. What is he waiting for?" cried a frustrated resident of Uyo.

As our reporter reached out to SSA to Akwa Ibom Government on Petroleum Resources, Sir. Victor Etefia, he shouted on the report saying ā€œCall me in the evening, we are having meeting with NUPENG now, I have been abused by so many peopleā€

REASON FOR STRIKE BY NUPENG

A source close to the matter revealed that NUPENG did not take the necessary steps to engage with authorities, including the DPR Coordinator and the Chief of Army Staff, to resolve the issue of seized trucks.

The source also claims that the product was illegally diverted to an unlicensed fuel station for export, which may have further exacerbated the situation.

According to the source, the Governor's hands may be tied in this matter due to the alleged illegalities involved, stating,

"NUPENG didn't do enough to address the issue. The product was diverted illegally. Even the Governor might not be able to intervene in such a situation."

"Diddy was controlled to do everything he did. I've been there, and I can tell you every Hollywood celebrity has a story to tell. There are people in power who control you, turning you into a d£mon so they have something to use against you if you choose to turn your back on them tomorrow. They give you everything with conditions and tell you they can take it all back if you don't follow instructions.

I had to be the brave one to tell them no, and they made it look like I was m@d. All the musicians with power are pup_pets to a group of influential people. They use them to win souls and when you are tired, they bring you down and continue their mission." ~ Kanye West
