A very important thing to note is that Ibibio language does not have the "r" sound, spoken or written.

If the below listed names were to be put in ibibio (which of course would not sound as good as it sounds in Efik, in most cases), it would be :

❗️ ETORO -- ETOODO

❗️TIMARO -- TOYOIMA'DO

❗️EKIKERE -- AKIKEDE

❗️UFORO -- UFODO

❗️MBAKARA -- MMAKADA

⚠️ the "r" sound in Efik is usually replaced with a "d" sound for ibibio.

A simple, most occurring trick-sound that makes up a disparity between EFIK and IBIBIO is the "a" sound.

The "a" sound replaces the "e, o," and few other sounds of the Efik pronunciation.

The fatest way to identify an Ibibio speaker is in his/her usage of "a" in almost every speech he/she makes in our local dialect.

It's quite disturbing to know that most Akwaibom cannot differentiate 'Efik and Ibibio' in speech, this has affected their ability to write these two languages successfully.

Which is why I'm bringing this to you.
