FIRST LADY OLUREMI TINUBU MARKS HER 65TH BIRTHDAY AS PRESIDENT TINUBU PENS HEARTFELT TRIBUTE

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, marked her 65th birthday today, receiving a deeply emotional and heartfelt tribute from her husband, President Bola Tinubu, who praised her as a pillar of strength, a devoted partner, and an exemplary figure of compassion and resilience.

In a moving public statement, President Tinubu described his wife as not only the love of his life but also a confidant, counselor, and the “steady flame” guiding his path through decades of personal and political challenges. Highlighting her unwavering support during turbulent times, including years of struggle and political exile, the President lauded her quiet sacrifices and dignified presence as integral to both their family and the nation.

“Oluremi is more than my wife,” President Tinubu wrote. “She is the true strength of womanhood; resolute yet tender, humble yet unshakably firm.” He acknowledged her often-unseen contributions to Nigeria, noting that her sacrifices, made “quietly” and “without complaint,” have served the country as profoundly as his own leadership.

The President expressed gratitude for her enduring love, health, and empathy, which he said continue to touch millions of Nigerians. “As your President, I salute you as the First Lady whose warmth and empathy continue to touch millions of lives across our land,” he added.

The tribute also celebrated her role as a mother and grandmother, with Tinubu noting that their children and grandchildren see in her an example of compassion and faith. “Your love is a treasure I hold dear,” he concluded, wishing her joy, peace, and fulfillment in the years ahead.

The First Lady’s birthday has sparked an outpouring of goodwill from Nigerians across social media platforms, with many echoing the President’s sentiments and celebrating her grace and contributions to the nation. As Nigeria reflects on her milestone, Oluremi Tinubu remains a beloved figure, admired for her quiet strength and dedication to family and country.

SONGS FOR A REASON

"But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night?" -Job 35:10 (KJV)

Night seasons are part of every believer’s journey, those times when answers delay, light seems far, and hope flickers. Yet, Job reveals a profound mystery - God gives songs in the night.

Not explanations. Not immediate solutions. But songs. Why? Because songs carry faith, and faith sustains you when sight cannot. Songs of Praise are not just celebratory, they are weapons of warfare. It is the declaration that God is still in charge, even when the present situation of life doesn’t make sense.

Paul and Silas understood this. In Acts 16, beaten and bound in prison, they didn’t groan, instead they took it to the faith side with songs. And God responded. Chains fell. Doors opened. Praise shook the foundations of bo***ge.

There is a song for every season, situation, condition and environment. Don’t wait for joy to sing, sing to find joy. Don’t wait for victory to dance, dance your way into victory. Don't wait for answers to come, praise for the answers by faith. For our God inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). Where praise rises, God steps in.

Has your night been long? Lift your voice anyways. Worship isn’t noise, it’s an altar. Thanksgiving is a sign of trust. Praise is a weapon. And in that dark room of silence and waiting for answers, your melody may just be the key to your miracle. Sing your way through. No night ever last forever but your song can turn things around.

One song for the night is enough earthquake to break the chains.

THE DIVINE STILLNESS

"He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters."- Psalm 23:2 (NIV)

When David says the Lord leads him beside still waters, he’s not describing a stagnant life. Stillness in God is not inactivity, it is security. It is the calm that comes from being divinely led.

Many believers fear still seasons. We associate movement with progress, and quietness with delay. But sometimes, the greatest growth happens in silence. God leads us beside still waters not to pause our lives, but to restore our souls.

Still waters reflect clarity. When the waters of your heart are still, you can see more clearly. You hear Him better. You think more soundly. But many of us are used to running and rushin, so when God invites us to lie down or lie low, we panic.

But consider that sheep only rest when they feel safe. So if God leads you to lie down, it’s because your safety is secured in Him. You may not see the journey ahead, but you are in the care of a Shepherd who does.

Still waters don’t mean your vision is cancelled or your destiny is delayed. It means God is preparing you - mentally, emotionally, physiologically or spiritually. You are in a divine resetting. A strengthening moment. A time of quiet reconfiguration and recalibration before your next instruction.

Don’t despise the stillness. Don’t run from the quiet. In still moments, God's voice is louder as He speaks to you. In still waters, your soul finds rest. And after rest comes the journey again in a stronger, sharper, and more clearer direction than ever.

THE GREAT EXCHANGE

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." - 2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)

The gospel is a story of divine exchange - our sin for His righteousness, our guilt for His grace. Jesus took upon Himself everything we deserved so that we could receive everything He deserved. He bore our shame so we could walk in His glory.

This exchange is not just a historical event - it’s a present reality. When you believe in Christ, you enter into this great exchange. The weight of your sin and failure is lifted, and you are clothed in His righteousness.

This isn’t just about salvation - it’s about transformation. Jesus didn’t come to make you better; He came to make you new. The old has passed away, and the new has come. You are not just forgiven; you are now the righteousness of God in Christ.

Embrace this exchange. Don’t just accept the forgiveness of your sin; also receive the gift of righteousness. Walk in the freedom that Christ has bought for you.

GOV ENO VOWS TO END ELECTRICITY NIGHTMARE IN AKWA IBOM
..declares open strategic electricity summit

Cognizant of its critical role in realizing the state's economic vision, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has launched a bold initiative to transform the state's electricity landscape, prioritizing optimal availability, affordability, and accessibility.

Speaking while declaring open a two-day State's Electricity Summit at Four-Points By Sheraton in Ikot Ekpene, the Governor said the summit marks a turning point in the electricity sector of the State.

"For decades, our people have lived with the paradox of great energy potential but could not fully appropriate the gift. We are blessed with abundance of gas, a state-owned power plant, yet too many of our homes, businesses, schools, and hospitals are grappling with epileptic power supply," he stated.

Governor Eno queried the rationale behind the State-owned Ibom Power Company with installed capacity of 191MW not working optimally since its establishment in 2001, despite the huge investment in it.

"These are very hard questions, and we will dare to tread on grounds that angels fear to tread on during this summit. The hard questions must be asked; answers must be proffered; and actions must be taken to get our power sector working excellently to benefit our people and our State," he declared.

He enjoined stakeholders at the summit to make it a worthwhile engagement, and not a talk shop, adding, "This Summit should chart a roadmap, and be seen as a call to action with clear timelines on who should do what, when would such actions be completed, what are the clear expectations outlined.

Governor Eno disclosed that the State's vision for total electricity access is anchored on a simple principle that electricity must not be seen as a luxury but as a fundamental enabler of modern life.

He sued for a collective aspiration by Governors to convene energy and security summit that are deliberately planned and purposefully executed, saying that under the State's Eectricity Policy 2024 and Electricity Law 2025, legal regulatory and policy foundations have been established to regulate the State electricity market.

He called for quality collaboration between the Federal Government and States as envisaged in the electricity Act, promising that the State's electricity reforms would be attained within the context of Nigeria's reforming, reshaping, and re-designing electricity supply industry.

He, therefore, assured investors of his commitment to provide the necessary facilities and level-playing field for them to invest and produce clean energy in the State.

The Governor stated that the State is already integrating clean energy solutions into its vision to ensure that model healthcare centres, schools, and other critical State's facilities and services are no longer depending on unreliable power supply.

"Our Compressed Natural Gas mass transportation plan, introduction of electric vehicles, and other energy renewable initiatives are all part of the deliberate strategy to reduce emission, cut cost, and build a sustainable energy future.

"In Akwa Ibom State, electricity sector governance will be professional, transparent, and entirely citizen-focused. Only by so doing, can we put in place a State electricity sector that will stand the test of time."

"Let us make our State an outstanding model for sub national electricity reform in Nigeria, because when we electrify Akwa Ibom State and enable reliable, affordable, and clean electricity across the State, we are creating an Akwa Ibom in which we all rise and stand tall together to truly arise to a renewed hope," he said.

Earlier, in her welcome address as the Chairman of the State's Electricity Reform Committee, the State Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, noted that the stakeholders are not merely gathered to discuss ideas but to align politics, policy, and investment with the technical and financial reforms that can deliver real change.

According to her, with the theme of the summit "Attaining Energy Security and Universal Access for Akwa Ibom State within the Framework of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry," the State is strongly determined to come out with the workable key to provide sustainable, clean, accessible and affordable electricity for the people to live comfortably.

In his address, the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu who was represented by his Chief Technical Adviser, Mr Adedayo Olowoniyi felicitated the State on the determination to reform the electricity sector for affordable and universal access to power, and assured of the support of the Federal Government.

Similarly, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen represented by the Chairman, House Committee on Power, Hon. Victor Nwokolo, commended Governor Umo Eno and his team for the forthrightness, courage and visionary insight which he described as indication that the State has positioned itself as a model for other sub - nationals.

Also speaking, Governors of Enugu, Abia, Cross River and Bayelsa States who were represented by their commissioners in the power sector, as well as the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, represented by Air Vice Marshall E. E. Effiong, congratulated the Governor for his development strides and the commitment to transforming the power sector and assured of collaboration and support where necessary to ensure success of the vision.

Speaking on behalf of Akwa Ibom Stakeholders, Senator Ekong Sampson said it was a delight to see how the Governor was driving transformation in the State, and assured that members of the National Assembly will completely align with the vision of the Governor to reposition the sector.

In a keynote address, Team Leader – Power, United Kingdom Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility, Eyo O. Ekpo, enumerated five strategic priorities that must be addressed by any credible State electricity reforms including; Operationalise AKSERC, bringing together the elements of the State electricity value chain in a mutually-supporting commercial framework that is focused on serving the State first and foremost, and Focus on the off-grid market too, among others.

Highpoint of the event was the unveiling of the State Electricity Policy, and the State Electricity Law by the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, distinguished guests and senior government officials.

GOV ENO DECLARES OPEN ELECTRICITY SUMMIT, VOWS TO END ELECTRICITY IMPASSE IN AKWA IBOM

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pst. Umo Bassey Eno PhD, has declared the Akwa Ibom Electricity Summit 2025 open, describing it as a major turning point in the State’s quest for energy security and unlimited access to power.

He says the time has come for someone to take a critical decision to make things work in the State’s power sector by asking the right questions and getting the right answers.

Speaking at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Ikot Ekpene, Thursday, Governor Eno said the summit must move beyond being another talk shop to producing a practical roadmap with timelines, clear responsibilities, and measurable outcomes.

“For decades, our people have lived with the paradox of great energy potentials but little to show for it. Electricity is not a luxury; it is a fundamental enabler of modern life.

“This Summit should deliver a concrete action plan that ensures every home, every business, and every school in Akwa Ibom has reliable power.”

Speaking further, Governor Eno underscored the importance of collaboration between the State and the Federal government, recalling the recent MoU signed with the Rural Electrification Agency to expand access in underserved communities.

He also stressed that Akwa Ibom state's electricity reforms would be anchored on transparency, professionalism, and partnerships with the private sector, development partners, and local communities.

“Our vision is ambitious but achievable. We will not politicize electricity. We will build a State electricity market that stands the test of time and serves our people.”

Earlier in her welcome address, Deputy Governor and Chairperson of the Summit Organizing Committee, Senator (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi, described the gathering as a historic moment, not only for Akwa Ibom State but for Nigeria as a whole.

She noted that with the passage of the Electricity Act 2023 and the State’s own Electricity Law 2025, Akwa Ibom had the foundation to chart its own electricity market.

“This summit is structured to align politics, policy, and investment with technical and financial reforms that will deliver real change.

She further urged participants, regulators, investors, development partners, and community leaders to approach discussions with seriousness and focus, with the ultimate goal of producing a State Electricity Sector Action Programme to guide implementation.

In his separate goodwill messages, Minister of Power represented by his Chief Technical Adviser, Hon. Adedoyin Oluwoniyi, lauded Governor Eno for taking a bold step toward energy reform.

“This summit is timely and significant. As Akwa Ibom is energized, industry will grow, productivity will rise, and the economy will expand."

Mr. Eyo Ekpo, Team Lead of Power Component UKNIAF, and representatives of donor agencies including the UN Development Programs, pledged support for the State’s electricity ambitions, emphasizing that the journey to a state-led electricity market was critical for Nigeria’s development.

Other goodwill messages also came from the Speaker of the House of Representatives who was represented by Hon. Victor Nwokolo, Chairman, House Committee on Power, representatives of the Governors of Enugu, Abia, Cross River, and Bayelsa States, all of whom praised Akwa Ibom for setting a precedent that would benefit other states.

Senator Ekong Sampson, representing Eket Senatorial District, who spoke for the National Assembly Caucus from the State, described the initiative as bold and impressive, promising their readiness to move for legislative backings to ensure that the reforms succeed.

Highpoint of the event was the official unveiling of the State Electricity Regulatory Policy and the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Law, jointly performed by Governor Eno, Deputy Governor Eyakenyi, representative of the Speaker of House of Representatives, the Minister of Power’s representative, and other dignitaries, including the Governors’ representatives, the Chairman of Ibom Power, Acting Managing Director of Ibom Power, the Attorney General, and the Commissioner for Justice, the Secretary to the State Government and the Executive Assistant to the Governor.

The summit, themed "Attaining Energy Security and Universal Access for Akwa Ibom State within the Framework of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry”, continues with technical sessions/discussions designed to produce actionable strategies for reliable power supply across the State.
