BREAK THE CYCLE

"And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, ‘The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valour"!- Judges 6:12 (NKJV)

Gideon was hiding when heaven called him mighty. He saw himself as the least of the least, surviving under oppression, doing the best he could with the little he had. But God saw a deliverer hiding in a cave - a cycle-breaker trapped in a pattern of fear.

Israel had fallen into a cycle: sin, oppression, repentance, and temporary relief - then back to sin again. But in every cycle, God raises a person. One who refuses to keep living under what they were born to break. That was Gideon.
He questioned the angel’s greeting: “If the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us?” Many ask the same today. If God is for me, why am I here? Why is my family stuck? Why is my history full of loss?

The answer isn’t in God’s absence - it’s in our identity. God may not quickly respond to our conditions - but will instantly respond to His call. Gideon’s breakthrough began when he believed what God said about him, not what life had taught him.

You may have been born into dysfunction, raised in limitation, or shaped by struggle. But heaven calls you mighty. You are not just called to survive the cycle - you are called to end it.

Break the pattern. Tear down the altars. Refuse to pass it to the next generation. What ran through your bloodline can end with you.

You are not who the fear says you are. You are who God says you are - and you were born to break the cycle.

PRESS ON
DON'T STOP!

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”– Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)

Endurance is the hallmark of a life lived in faith. Hebrews 12:1-2 paints the image of a race, one not defined by speed but by perseverance. The Christian journey is not a sprint; it’s a marathon requiring determination, discipline, and a steady focus on Christ.

The writer encourages us to *“throw off everything that hinders.”* These are not just sins but also distractions, fears, and weights that slow us down spiritually. Just as a runner sheds unnecessary baggage, believers must identify and release anything that interferes with their pursuit of God’s purpose.

Jesus serves as both our example and our strength. He endured the cross, despising its shame, because of the joy set before Him. His unwavering focus on the outcome - the redemption of humanity enabled Him to persevere through unimaginable pain. This reminds us that endurance or perseverance is not about willpower alone; it is fuelled by a clear vision of the reward.

Challenges will arise, and moments of exhaustion are inevitable. But endurance is built not in ease, but in resistance. Fixing our eyes on Jesus keeps us steady, reminding us that the race is not run in our strength but in His.

Are you feeling weary in your journey and pursuit of purpose? Press on. Don't stop. The finish line is ahead, and the reward is eternal.

*You Cannot Afford To Retire*

I have come to this conclusion, not just from books or sermons, but from the steady drumbeat of real life. From watching friends, colleagues, family members, great men—men of wisdom, strength, and wealth—choose to retire... only to quietly fade into sickness, into sorrow, and then, far too soon, into the arms of death.

Retirement, in the way the world understands it, is not rest—it is resignation. Resignation from purpose. From duty. From the creative tension that keeps the spirit vibrant and alert.

We are taught that everything in creation is in motion. Motion is life. Motion is law.
Look around you:

*. Rivers flow ceaselessly—wherever the current breaks off, water *. stagnates and death settles in.
*. The Earth rotates without pause.
*. The seasons march in perfect obedience.
*. Even the great stars above us dance in eternal cycles, never swerving, never stalling.

Man is no exception.

We were not made to rest. We were made to strive, to build, to create, to solve, to nurture.
The moment we choose to withdraw from life’s current, to step out of the stream and into the stagnant pool of ‘retirement,’ something begins to wither—first in the mind, then in the body, then in the soul.

You can not retire from being alive.

What is needed is not retirement—but redirection. A man may leave a career, yes, but he must never leave his calling. He must find another field where his hands are needed, where his thoughts must still labor, where his spirit can continue to serve.

Inactivity is an invitation to decay.

A man must have something that:

* Keeps him curious,
* Keeps him responsible,
* Keeps him accountable,
* Keeps him needed.
For as long as breath remains, there must be engagement—with God, with purpose, with people, with destiny.

Even a candle in its last inch must burn with dignity, casting light until the final flicker.
Even in old age, the tree must still bear fruit—or at least cast shade.
Even at sunset, the sky must still paint itself with glory.

I speak this not only for myself but for all who may be tempted to think their work is done because the world says “retire.”

No. You may rest. You may change lanes. But you must never stop moving.

To stop is to rust.
To rust is to rot.
And to rot is to die—before your time.

So keep moving, Keep thinking. Keep building. Keep giving. Keep creating.
Keep becoming, keep studying the bible, and have faith in God.

That is the law. That is the way. That is life.

The Governor stated this at the July Edition of Government House covenant service held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, July 1, 2025.

He noted that though elected through the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and now in the All Progressives Congress (APC), he was elected to serve the whole State, irrespective of political affiliations.

The Governor who intentionally referred to Chairmen of the different Political Parties in attendance at the service as "Chairman of our party," said he is a Governor serving the general interest of the State.

He appreciated everyone for their support, especially during the activities marking the progressive movement.

"Let me take this opportunity to thank the people of Akwa Ibom State for the support given to us so far, especially during our recent movement to the APC, without record of any sad occurrence. We are very grateful to God and to you.

"We have moved from politics, and we are now back to governance. work has started again. Please, let us get back to work.

"Tomorrow, we are flagging off road constructions, and within the month, we will be commissioning many others," he stated.

He said that the Office of the First Lady will soon start the sensitization of women across the 31 Local Government Areas of the State adding "The Office of the First Lady will be working with wives of Chairmen of Local Government Areas to sensitize our women across party-lines by bringing them together through Co-operatives and seminars.

Preaching on the theme: "And the shout of the King is among them" culled from Numbers 23:21, Bishop (Dr.) Josephine Eggah of the New Birth Bible Church in Uyo, noted that a king does not just shout, but he shouts to establish his influence, power, and deliver good things to his people.

Eggah admonished Christians and people of the State to stand still for the shout and voice of the Lord reigns mightily in the land of Akwa Ibom for the good of the people.

In his closing charge, the Chairman of the State Christian Leadership Advisory Council, and Archbishop of Calabar Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Joseph Ekuwem, enjoined everyone to keep on supporting the administration of Governor Umo Eno for the overall betterment of the State.

DEEPLY ROOTED IN GOD'S WORD

“Every Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)

The Scripture, which is the Word of God, is the foundation of our faith. It provides guidance, wisdom, and strength for navigating life's challenges. When you immerse yourself in the Word of God, you gain a deeper understanding of God's character, His love for you, and His plans for your life.

Many testimonies abound among the brethren as they recall times when they faced difficult decisions, and God's Word provided clarity and direction. As they read and meditated on the Scripture, they were reminded that God's plans for them are good and perfect. His Word reproved them when they strayed, corrected them when they erred, and instructed them in righteousness.

As you prioritize time in God's Word, you will develop a strong foundation for your faith, enabling you to stand firm in the face of adversity. You will grow in wisdom, faith, and obedience, becoming more like Christ, which is the essence of life. God's Word will be the anchor for your soul, guiding you through life's ups and downs and empowering you to live for His glory.

Beloved, let us prioritize God's Word above all else and see how it shapes your thoughts, words, and actions, transforming you into the image of Christ. Abide in the Scripture to find strength, comfort, and guidance, and you will be equipped to live a life that honours God and blesses those around you. God bless you.

THE FIRE FOR A NEW BEGINNING

"When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.”*_ – Acts 2:1-3 (NIV)

Every new beginning comes with a sound, a signal that something is indeed shifting, a call to refuel and refine. When this shift is driven by the Holy Spirit, it comes with a flaming fire that not only anoints us but ignites us for something greater.

On the day of Pentecost, the disciples experienced this divine shift, a holy blaze that sparked a new chapter in their lives and in the story of the Church. That same fire is available to us today, ready to kindle a fresh passion and purpose in our hearts.

The fire of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost was no ordinary flame. It was a divine signal, a sound of rushing wind and tongues of fire resting on each disciple, filling them with boldness and power. This fire ignited a new beginning, equipping them to carry the message of Jesus Christ to the world. It purified their hearts, fueled their courage, and set their spirits ablaze to proclaim the Gospel with zeal. What began as a small gathering in an upper room became a movement that changed the world.

For us, the fire of the Holy Spirit can do the same in this new beginning. It’s a flame that burns away doubt, fear, shame, mediocrity, incapacitation and complacency, refining us for God’s purpose. It’s a fire that empowers us to speak truth, live boldly with the passion for Jesus Christ and his work. When we invite the Holy Spirit’s fire into our lives, we open ourselves to His power - a power that fuels new beginnings, stirs our hearts, and equips us to shine as lights in the new beginning before us.

So, how do we embrace this fire? We start by maintaining unity in physical and in prayer, expectant for God’s Spirit to move. We pay attention to the sound - the whisper that announces His presence, the call to step into the new new beginning with clarity. We yield to His refining work, allowing His fire to purify our motives and ignite our faith as we step out in boldness, trusting that the Holy Spirit will empower us to live victoriously for Christ in ways that make a difference in the new beginning.

ATBU Student Invents Smart Glove That Converts Sign Language to Speech

Innovation is alive at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, where a brilliant student, Muhammad Habib Husaini, from the Department of Computer and Communication Engineering, has developed a groundbreaking device that could transform how people with speech impairments communicate.

Habib invented the NHED Smart Glove, a homemade, speech-transforming device that converts sign language into audio output. Using pressure sensors embedded in the glove, signals are transmitted to an ESP32 microcontroller, which then communicates with an SD card module to trigger the corresponding spoken words.

This glove, entirely built from scratch using locally sourced components, stands out as a low-cost but highly effective solution for those who rely on sign language to express themselves.

Habib explained his mission clearly:

> “With the NHED Smart Glove, we are not just building a device; we are restoring dignity and bridging gaps in communication.”

His invention is a powerful step toward inclusion, accessibility, and empowerment, especially for the speech-impaired community.

This remarkable innovation was born at ATBU, proving once again that ATBU is Technically Ahead!

GOV ENO REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO WORKERS' WELFARE

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his commitment to workers' welfare, in line with the strategic focus of his administration's ARISE Agenda.

Speaking at the thanksgiving service to mark the public service week 2025, held at the International Christian Worship Center, Uyo, the Governor said it was necessary and important to do so because the civil service remains the engine room of government.

Represented by the State Commissioner for Finance, Mr Emem Bob, the Governor said he has so far paid arrears of pensions and gratuities of "over N60 billion out of the N98 billion we inherited from past administrations dating back to 2012, and stand poised to liquidate the backlog as more funds become available."

The Governor congratulated the Head of Service, Elder Effiong Essien, and all workers in the State Civil Service for what he described as a very successful series of event marking the Public Service Week, 2025.

The Governor said the theme of the year’s celebration "Leveraging Technology for a Smart and Agile Civil Service," was apt and captures his administration's vision for a new civil service with a culture grounded in only deliverables.

"We believe that for our civil service to align with the times for better service delivery, it must leverage technology. So, I am deeply heartened by the choice of the theme.

"Since we came in a little over two years ago, we have intentionally and strategically deployed technology in the running of our government business. We went ahead to create the first stand-alone Ministry devoted to Science and Digital Economy. To simplify government processes and eliminate wastages, we set up various portals-the Arise Employment Portal, the Verification Portals, which since they were launched, have discovered and tracked over 2,000 ghost workers and another 3,000 persons who were fraudulently receiving pensions."

He said the Ministry of Science and Digital Economy has also unified the mainstream Civil Service, with the State, Primary School and Local Government Sectors under one fiscal control, thus eliminating individuals from collecting salaries from more than one source

"This has made the system run efficiently and professionally and I want to thank the Head of Service again for ensuring strict compliance of this approach," he added.

Governor Eno said in fulfilment of his campaign promise to inject new hands into the Civil Service, he had authorized the recruitment of 3,000 new workers into the civil service and advised prospective applicants to apply through the State employment portal.

He congratulated Barrister Victor Fabian of the Ministry of Justice and Ms. Itoro Ernest Udofia of the Ministry of Trade and Investment for the special promotion and cash rewards they received as a result of their passionate dedication to their jobs, and urged others to take a cue from them and remain even more dedicated to their responsibilities.

CULTIVATING GRATITUDE

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)

Gratitude is a bold, deliberate choice to trust God’s goodness, no matter life's circumstance. It’s not about ignoring the existing pains but about seeing His hand in every moment we face - triumph or trial.

Cultivating this practice shifts our focus from what’s missing to the abundance of God’s provision, anchoring us in His unceasing cares, love and Mercies.

Choosing gratitude in a moment of intense pains takes courage, especially when life feels heavy. It’s a defiant stand to thank God in the midst of it all, declaring His sovereignty over every circumstance. This mindset rewires us to find peace even in chaos.

To live gratefully, make it practical: each day, note three blessings, speak thanks aloud, and let gratitude shape your actions. These habits reconfigure your heart, turning every moment into an opportunity to express gratitude to God.

Choose gratitude today as it’s God’s will and the key to a life radiant with His grace.

DEPTHS, PRAISES & WORSHIP

"Yahweh is my strength and my wraparound shield. When I fully trust in you, help is on the way. I jump for joy and burst forth with ecstatic, passionate praise! I will sing songs of what you mean to me!" - Psalms 28:7 TPT

When we lift our voices in praise or worship, we’re doing more than singing songs or reciting words - we’re expressing the depths of what God means to us. Our worship is a language, a heartfelt outpouring of gratitude that declares who God truly is in our lives. He is our strength when we are weak, our wraparound shield in times of trouble, and the source of our joy when hope seems distant. For those who have experienced His personal, intimate help, His wraparound care, praise becomes more than a duty; it’s a natural response to His boundless love and faithfulness.

Gratitude is the root of authentic worship. When we reflect on God’s goodness, how He’s carried us through storms, answered prayers in unexpected ways, or simply been our constant companion - our hearts can’t help but overflow with thanksgiving. This gratitude fuels deep worship, the kind that moves us to sing, shout, dance, or even weep in His presence. Whether in the open or in the secret place, our posture of praise declares that God is more than everything to us. He is our all in all.

Yet, not all worship is the same. There’s a difference between deep worship, born from a heart transformed by gratitude, and shallow worship, which can become a mere religious routine. Shallow worship goes through the motions of singing songs without feeling, praying without connection, or praising without reflection. Deep worship, however, flows from a heart that knows God’s character and has tasted His goodness. It’s personal, passionate, and purposeful, reflecting the truth of who He is to us: our Redeemer, our Provider, our Peace.

Today, let’s examine our worship. Are we offering God the praise He deserves, rooted in gratitude for all He’s done and who He is? Let’s move beyond routine and let our worship be a vibrant expression of our love for Him. Sing of His faithfulness. Shout of His mercy. Dance in His freedom. Whether in the quiet of your heart or in the company of others, let your praise reflect the truth: God is everything to you.

A FISHING WITH JESUS!

“And Jesus said to him, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." – Matthew 4:19 (NKJV)

Imagine that you're standing on the very shores of Galilee, the gentle waves lapping at your feet, the air thick with the scent of fishes and Jesus walks by and calls out to you, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” In that moment, everything changes. It’s not just an invitation to walk with Him, it’s a call to join His divine mission, to cast nets of love, compassion, grace, and truth into a world desperate for salvation.

When we follow Jesus, we don’t just tag along; we become partners in His global fishing expedition for souls. Every step we take with Him aligns us with His eternal plan to draw people into the Kingdom of God. We’re not just bystanders; we’re active disciples, entrusted with the gospel that redeems and restores. As we surrender our own agendas, laying down our nets like Peter and Andrew, we step into a purpose far greater than our individual purposes combined. We become part of a story that spans eternity, where every soul matters.

Fishing with Jesus isn’t always easy. It means denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and trusting His will over our own but the rewards far outweigh everything else. As His disciples, we’re blessed with the abundant life He promised in John 10:10, a life filled with His peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7). We grow in faith, wisdom, and love, becoming more like Him with every step. His compassion fills us, His mercy shapes us, and His grace sustains us through life’s storms and we will never walk alone because He is always with us, guiding us as we cast our nets into the world.

So, let’s answer Jesus' call with abandon! Let’s fish for men with Him, trusting His goodness and surrendering to His plan. As we do, we’ll see lives in and around us transformed. We’ll experience the joy of bearing fruits for His glory, watching His love and light shine through us to a world in need.
