Why I did not join cult group- Ubotex MD

The managing Director of Ubotex Limited, Elder Ubong Obot has described Cultism as a group of irresponsible and unintelligent people with low self esteem, noting that it is an act of stupidity for anyone to belong to a cult group.

Ubotex stated this at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Ikot Udoro Oku Area Headquarters, Uyo where he chaired the Area Temple Building Project fund lunch in company of Elder Ubong Inyang Okoro, the Managing Director of La Vendah Global Enterprises.

In his remarks, Elder Obot said it is unthinkable how intelligent, educated and well exposed people will condescend so low to join a group of those below their levels and be controlled and remoted around by those he described as ‘Riff Raffs’.

He said, he can’t imagine himself being under the control of irresponsible people with low mentality who called themselves ‘Capoon’ in the name of being a cult member.

In his words, he said: “I have to say this openly so that those who believe in our Lord Jesus Christ will not be deceived. I vowed never to join any cult group when I understood that I will be under the control and directive of stupid people who don’t know their left from right. More than ninety per cent (90%) of those who are in cultism are illiterate and unexposed people. How on earth can I be driving my Prado jeeps to an uncompleted building to meet a small boy sitting with rag clothes and bow to him, taking instructions on what to do and what not to do? At my level, how will I explain to someone that the person who is my superior is one jobless tout who did not even complete his Primary school?

That was why I said to myself that I can never join such group and I will never have anything to do with such group of people.”

While, calling on Christians to resist all temptations and gimicks of the devil at all times, the Ubotex MD said Christ is the way, the truth and the life who is the only source of salvation and blessings to all mankind, stressing that cultism cannot give anyone a better life, instead it leads to destruction and eternal doom.

In his part, the MD of La Vendah Global Enterprises, Elder Ubong Okoro emphasized that it pays to serve the Lord, stating that as a youth, he has resisted all worldly distractions and enticement which he said leads to destruction. He hinted that he has dedicated his youthful life to serving God, spending all his resources on the things of God.

He reiterated tothat he has been blessed by his service to God and called on all Christians, particularly, the Youths, to devote their youthful age to serving God for a better future.

Also in the entourage was Elder Ndanti Ekuh, an Uyo born Politician and a former Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly aspirant.

Fresh fuel scarcity hits Akwa Ibom Sunday 1st December ..as IPMAN protests another illegal levy

Members of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Akwa Ibom State branch have concluded plans to withdraw services in the State from Sunday 1st December, 2024 in a protest over fifteen Thousand naira levy said to have been imposed on the members by Francis Udoyen led Executive of IPMAN in Akwa Ibom.

Our reporter gathered that the withdrawal of service by the petroleum Marketers will last indefinitely resulting in a skyrocketing fuel price and scarcity if nothing is done.

Explaining the reason for the looming crisis, a section of aggrieved members of the union who spoke with our reporter said the crisis is caused by what they described as illegal extortion of N15,000 (fifteen Thousand naira) from each truck bringing petroleum products into the State.

In their words, "We received information that some 'cabal' members working for the IPMAN Chairman, Francis Udoyen led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Petroleum Matters, Sir Victor Etefia who doubles as MD of V & E and Mr. Michael Udofia, MD of Fens Oil met somewhere on Thursday 14th November and discussed building a State Secretariat for the Association. Shortly after their cabal meeting, the recruited thugs who are not known to members of the union and unleashed them with IPMAN receipts to harass and extort fifteen Thousand naira from each truck. So even if you have five trucks coming into the State ten times, you will have to pay for the five trucks into the number of times your trucks are coming into the State. They did this without the knowledge of the entire State Executive Members and the general House of the union. By this act, it simply means Sir Victor Etefia and his gang aided by the IPMAN Chairman do not want petroleum Marketers to supply petroleum products in the State, as such from Sunday 1st December, we will withdraw our services."

The aggrieved members who insisted that their names should not be mentioned warned residents of the State to use the remaining days before Sunday 1st December to acquire as more products as they can in preparation for the planned withdrawal of service by petroleum Marketers.

All efforts to reach the IPMAN Chairman were abortive as his mobile numbers known to our reporters have been switched off up to the time of this report. When our reporter visited his UDY KING filling Station along Abak Road to meet with him, his security personnel reported that he had the instruction of the Chairman not to grant any journalist access to him.

Governor Umo Eno's wife's death, strange - Senator Ibok Essien

The Political Leader of Ikot Ekpene and the founder of Ritman Schools, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien has described the death of the wife of Akwa Ibom Governor, Late Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno as strange to him and the people of the State, noting that there's no justifiable reason for such death.

The Senator stated this in a condolence message to the Governor made available to news men in Uyo.

In the Statement, Essien lamented that the demise is not only sudden but unexpected, thereby making her reign as First Lady of Akwa Ibom State very short.

The statement reads in part: "Your Excellency, it has been the very first time the phenomenon of death seems to be strange, not only to me, but to my family, students and management of Ritman Schools, the entire Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Senatorial District and Akwa Ibom State in general. Strange because there's no convincing reason our beloved and companionate mother, Her Excellency, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno should suddenly and unexpectedly leave us within a twinkling of an eye, historically, at a time we are still in the euphoria of the 37th Anniversary celebration of our dear State.

It is strange because one year and four months is too short for her reign as the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State. Her compassion, motherly love and generosity exhibited through her pet project, GOLDEN INITIATIVE FOR ALL (GIFA) in addition to her unquantifiable support to you, emotionally and spiritually within this short reign made her an asset to both the First family and the entire state, particularly, the widows, the needy, the poor and Akwa Ibom women."

Further, the Senator said the Governor's wife's death has put the entire State in a fix, explaining that everyone is mourning, irrespective of political affiliation.

While consoling the Governor and the First family on behalf of his family together with the entire Ritman Schools and the people of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area and Senatorial District Essien emphasized that the bible in 1st 1st Thessalonians 4:18 admonishes Christian to console one another in time like this and therefore assured the Governor an all time support and prayers.

"Her demise has put the entire State in a fix as everyone is mourning painfully irrespective of political affiliation and consoling one another just as the Bible teaches in 1st Thessalonians 4:18 that we should console one another.

As the entire State joins the First family to mourn and reflect on her untimely and sad departure, my family and I, together with the entire Ritman Schools, people of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area and Senatorial District deeply share in your grief. We have never left you alone as our amiable Governor and as such, be rest assured that you are not alone in this difficult moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire First family. Our support to you and your government is in thick and thin as well as in good times and bad times. Be consoled that her legacies live on both in the church and the society," the Statement said.
