"Last Thursday night, I ran out of fuel on Third Mainland Bridge, 11pm. Phone at 2%, no power bank… I want to tell you what happened next ll Announce tv

I pushed the hazard lights on and sat in the car, trying to think. Cars were flying past me. Nobody slowed down, not one person. Lagos at night on that bridge is a different kind of alone.

After about 15 minutes, I saw headlights slow down behind me. A danfo bus. Old and battered. One headlight slightly dim.

The driver came down. Big man, rough-looking, dirty shirt and chewing something. My first thought was fear. My second thought was, I had no choice. He looked at my car, looked at me. Said, “Fuel?”

I nodded. He didn’t say anything else, just went back to his bus. I thought he was leaving. He wasn’t…

He came back with a small gallon, maybe two litres… old plastic container with a rubber pipe attached. Like he kept it specifically for situations like this.

He poured it into my tank without being asked… without negotiating, without even looking at me for approval. I started the car. It came on.

I came down immediately and opened my wallet. I had ₦15,000 on me ($11). I held it out to him. He looked at the money, then looked at me and shook his head…

I thought he wanted more. I told him it was all I had. He said, “Keep am.” Just like that. Keep am…

I stood there confused. This man just helped a stranger on a bridge at 11pm and didn’t want anything. I asked him why.

He leaned against his bus, took a long breath and said something I have not stopped thinking about since…

He said in 1998, he broke down on that same bridge. Nighttime, pregnant wife in the passenger seat, no phone, no money, no fuel.

He said he sat there for almost an hour, crying and praying. Then a man in a big car stopped. Suit and tie. Looked like someone who had no business stopping for a danfo driver, but he stopped.

Bought fuel from somewhere, came back and filled his tank. Refused every penny he offered… Said only one thing before he drove off: “Pass am forward.” That was it. (Pass it forward.)

The man in the suit drove away, and he never saw him again. Twenty-five years, he carried those three words. Third Mainland Bridge. Waiting for his own turn to use them.

I stood on that bridge and didn’t know what to say. This man had been holding onto someone else’s kindness for 25 years. And he chose me to give it to a stranger in a car he had never seen before.

He got back into his danfo, gave me one nod and drove off into the night. I stood there watching his one dim headlight disappear, holding ₦15,000 I couldn’t give away.

I sat back in my car for a long time before I drove off, thinking about the man in the suit in 1998, who had no idea what he started. A chain of kindness that crossed 25 years and found me on the same bridge.

I don’t know who that danfo driver is. I don’t know his name.

But somewhere in Lagos tonight, he is driving that old bus, with one dim headlight, and a heart that has been quietly changing lives since 1998..."

- Man recounts how a kind danfo driver rescued him after his car ran out of fuel on Third Mainland Bridge.

“My mother and I haven't spoken in 5 years. She d£spis£d me from birth ll Announce tv

Over a week ago, I got a phone call that she was dy!ng and was asked to come to the hospital. I went.

When I got there, she was asleep. But the moment her eyes opened and she saw me, she used her hands and eyes to signal that I should leave. So I left.

Two days ago, she passed away. And strangely enough, I feel nothing.

No ang£r.
No t£ars.
Just... nothing.

And I have made a decision that some people may find difficult to understand.

I will not be attending her funeral.
I will not be contributing financially towards it.

Not because I am trying to p¥nish the de@d.

But because l am finally accepting that de@th does not automatically create a relationship that never existed in life.

I know people will say:

"She was your mother"
"You only have one mother."
"Whatever happened, forgive her."
"You will regret not giving her a proper burial."

Maybe. But I also know what it feels like to spend years carrying pain that nobody sees.

So this is not really about a funeral. It is about the complicated reality of having a parent who never felt like a parent.

Can you grieve someone you never had a relationship with?

And if there is no relationship to mourn, what exactly are you supposed to feel when they dle?…” - A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after revealing that she felt no sadness following the death of her mother, whom she claimed had been estranged from her for years.

"Harry, please don't give your money to girls. Don't give your money to girls oo. They will finish your money and leave you ll Announce tv

I'm not saying you should not give them. At least, if you are buying them lunch, ₦5,000, the girl should be able to buy you lunch of ₦2,000. If you are dashing her ₦50k, she should be able to dash you ₦20k.

Because it's my pocket and your daddy's pocket that the money is going to be coming from. So please, spend wisely. Don't let girls deceive you and you go and be giving them money. In fact, don't be generous. Just give small small.

If you have a girlfriend, spend with sense. Spend small small. Any girl you are giving money to, the girl should be able to give you something in return. I beg you in the name of God.

'Oh Harry, can you get me lunch? Oh Harry, you know I like you so much.' No. Don't fall for their trap..."

- Mother sparks reactions online after advising her son not to spend money on ladies unless they reciprocate the gesture.

JUST IN: Anambra Govt begins crack down on those denying females the right to inherit property ll Announce tv

The Attorney General of Anambra State, Tobechukwu Nweke SAN has initiated steps for the prosecution of those denying females the right of inheritance in the state and has requested the Nigerian Police to investigate such complaints and transmit the case file to his office for prosecution.

This was disclosed in a letter written to the Nigerian Police and personally signed by the Attorney General which was made available to news men on Monday, 26th September 2026.

The letter noted that the obnoxious practices of denying women and girls of their right to inherit property because they are females amount to a crime under Section 22 of the Vi0lence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2017 of Anambra State and punishable with up to four (4) years imprisonment.

The concluding part of letter reads as follows:

“In light of the foregoing, you are kindly requested to ensure that your office thoroughly investigates all reported cases of gender-based disinheritance and that the case files are transmitted to this Ministry for further action.

“To effectively combat this practice, this Ministry has designated the S3xual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Unit to handle the prosecution of offenders under the above mentioned law, alongside other forms of domestic violence and s3xual offences.”

Despite the decisions of the Supreme Court declaring as unconstitutional and illegal, customs and practices which exclude females from inheriting property, some members of the public still indulge in these discriminatory practices.
