It's 5 years already!

It's been an eventful five years of social and educational trainning for children along media lines.

The children between the ages of 10 to 17 were trained to carry out functions as Reporters, camera operators, Radio TV presenters, graphic designers, script editors and audio/video editors.

In five years we'd produced over 26 youngsters who are now proficient in media skills for broadcasting, publishing and journalism.

Today we have a Radio programme, IBOM KIDS VOICE, a TV series, KIDDY VISION AKWA IBOM and now the IBOM KIDS EXPRESS, which is Akwa Ibom's first children's newspapers.
This newspaper publication would be unveiled on the 28th of June during our 5th year anniversary.

The unique project is one of the child Press initiative, (CPI) championed by Unicef and encouraged by UNESCO.

It may interest you to note that Akwa-Ibom kids Press Club is the first all kids Press Club in Nigeria.

As we celebrate our 5th year anniversary with the induction of new cub/cadet journalists, and the convocation of our trained journalists, we shall be installing new patrons/metron for the club.

The event will also feature the presentation of Awards of excellence to persons who have played prominent roles in support of child development.

His Excellency our dear Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD will be honored with the, "MOST CHILD FRIENDLY GOVERNOR AWARD" and presented with the GOLDEN CARE plaque in recognition of his compassionate leadership and development strides which has positively touched the lives of the common people and the children in particular. .

Some of our child friendly leaders will also be honoured.

Did you know that Akwa Ibom Kids Press Club is Africa's first child media initiative, providing kids with journalistic training?

Located in Akwa Ibom State, the club receives support from Dr. Charles Bassey Silas, a retired Radio Nigeria broadcast journalist, who also founded and directs the club.

Established in 2019, the club offers a social and educational platform for child development, providing media training for teenagers aged 13-18. With expert guidance, kids develop skills in Radio/TV Presentation, reporting, editing, and graphics.

They successfully operate their own TV program, KIDDIES VISION AKWA IBOM , Radio program, IBOM KIDS VOICE, and publish The IBOM KIDS STANDARD, Akwa Ibom's first children's newspaper.

All these achievements are made possible by kids, for kids, and by kids, under THE direct supervision of senior media professionals.
