One thing I learned as a barber is patience. Patience is very necessary and demanding in barbing if you want to satisfy your customers 95%. Some clients sometimes become the agents of destruction we never wish to happen to our enemies.
For example, a client walks in and meets one person in the seat waiting for you. He joins in waiting for his turn. While he's waiting, two people later join in waiting. When it reaches his turn to cut hair, he remembers that there's a friend he had wanted to talk to for years. He picks up his phone, dials his number, and starts talking and laughing, forgetting he's on the seat. Now, the call affects your performance because he doesn't steady his head. The call affects your timing because you'll be struggling with his head. The call affects your clients waiting for their turn because it will cost them extra time. Unfortunately, you make a mistake, maybe while trying to trim the hair, and boom, he hangs up and starts yelling at you. As a trained and well-mannered barber, how will you react?
1) Shout at him back and tell him he's the cause of the mistake.
2) Apologize to him and tell him it's because of his failure to steady his head, but you didn't want to disturb him; you thought you could handle it.
3) Keep quiet and don't say a word
