NYCN State Chairman applauds Gov. Umo Eno on Visionary Initiative.

Your Excellency,

On behalf of the entire youth population of Akwa Ibom State, and the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, I bring you warm felicitations and deep appreciation for this visionary initiative — the flag-off of the construction of Youth-Friendly Centres across ten pilot Local Government Areas of our dear State.

Yesterday marks another milestone in your administration’s deliberate commitment to youth empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development. These centres, which will feature ICT hubs, e-libraries, creative development spaces, co-working lounges, and other world-class facilities, are not just buildings — they are symbols of *hope, incubators of dreams, and gateways to the future for our young people.

Your Excellency,

We, the youth of Akwa Ibom State, see this gesture as a bold step toward addressing some of the core challenges that have confronted our demographic for decades — the lack of access to skill-enhancing environments, mentorship platforms, and creative workspaces. By this singular act, you have reaffirmed your belief that “empowered youths build a prosperous society.”

The Ministry of Youth Development, under the capable leadership of the Honourable Commissioner, deserves commendation for translating your vision into concrete action. This partnership between government and the youth constituency reinforces the Arise Agenda’s human capacity development pillar, which places young people at the heart of governance.

Your Excellency,

As the umbrella body of all youth organizations in the State, the NYCN pledges its total support and collaboration to ensure the sustainability, security, and optimal use of these centres. We are prepared to mobilize and sensitize our youths across all LGAs to take ownership of this initiative and to protect it as our own legacy.

Beyond this, we look forward to working closely with the Ministry to initiate leadership and entrepreneurship training programs that will complement these facilities, ensuring that Akwa Ibom youths are not just equipped but also inspired to innovate, lead, and compete globally.

In conclusion,

Today, we celebrate not just the flag-off of structures, but the foundation of a new era — an era of creativity, inclusion, and boundless opportunities for Akwa Ibom youths.
May God continue to bless and strengthen Your Excellency for your consistent passion toward youth development.

Long Live Akwa Ibom State!
Long Live the Ministry of Youth Development!
Long Live the National Youth Council of Nigeria!
Long Live His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno!

NYCN Akwa Ibom State Warns Against Participation in Planned October 20 Protest

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, has called on the youths of Akwa Ibom State and all residents to shun the planned protest slated for October 20, 2025, cautioning that such action could undermine the peace, stability, and progress currently being enjoyed across the state.

In a statement signed by Comrade Emmanuel Ekong, Chairman of the Council, the NYCN expressed deep concern over reports that some groups and individuals are mobilising citizens for a protest that lacks proper authorisation and may expose participants to security threats and legal consequences.

_“We have received credible information that the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Nigerian Police Force, has obtained a court order from the Federal High Court in Abuja restraining the organisers from proceeding with the planned protest,” the statement noted._
_
“We therefore urge Akwa Ibom youths to resist any attempt by external forces or faceless individuals to drag them into activities capable of disrupting the peace of our state.”

The Council also referenced recent security advisories issued by the United States Embassy in Abuja, warning of potential risks associated with gatherings or protests on that date.
According to the NYCN, this is a clear indication that the planned action could escalate into a public safety concern.

Comrade Ekong further appealed to all young people in the state to exercise *restraint, remain law-abiding, and explore lawful and constructive channels* to express their opinions or grievances.

_> “Akwa Ibom State under the leadership of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, has remained one of the most peaceful and development-driven states in the country. We must not allow any individual or group to destroy that reputation or reverse the gains of peace, unity, and progress,” the statement emphasized._

Reaffirming the Council’s unwavering commitment to youth development, empowerment, and partnership with government and stakeholders, the NYCN assured that it will continue to advocate for the welfare, inclusion, and security of all Akwa Ibom youths.

_> _“We have no other home than Akwa Ibom State and no other country than Nigeria._ _Let us protect our peace, support our government, and work together to build a greater future,” the statement concluded_

Stay peaceful.
Stay patriotic.
Stay safe.
