Rev. Theodore Effiong Reveals How He Returned from London to Nigeria and Suffered for 11 Years Trying to Destroy His Father’s Altar

Rev. Theodore Effiong has shared a deeply personal testimony about his journey of faith, obedience, and spiritual transformation, revealing that he left London after receiving what he described as a divine instruction to return to Nigeria and help bring healing and deliverance to his people. According to the minister, he later discovered that his family had been deeply involved in traditional spiritual practices, including Ogboni and Ekpe, with his father and forefathers holding significant positions within those systems. He said the discovery marked the beginning of an 11-year period of intense spiritual and personal struggles, during which he experienced severe hardship despite praying and fasting as a pastor.

Effiong said that after years of breaking what he described as ancestral altars, he received a further instruction from God to build an altar to Him through sacrifice. In response, he returned to his village, built a church, and handed it over to his denomination as an expression of his dedication to God. He described the moment as a major turning point in his life, saying he subsequently experienced a powerful encounter with God and received what he understood as a prophetic mandate to become a voice beyond Calabar and eventually on the international stage. Reflecting on his journey, he emphasized that his breakthrough did not come merely from “breaking” things, but from building something for God, declaring that his story was ultimately about moving from “I break” to “I make.”

The Grammys Won’t Matter Before God: CeCe Winans Urges Believers to Focus on Who They Are When No One Is Watching

Gospel music icon CeCe Winans has urged believers to place greater value on their character and relationship with God than on the recognition that comes with public ministry. Reflecting on her own life, she noted that being on stage represents only a small portion of who she is, while the moments away from the spotlight reveal much more about her faith. She encouraged Christians to ask themselves whether they are pleasing God in private, where there are no audiences, applause, or expectations to perform.

Winans emphasized that earthly achievements will ultimately have no weight when believers stand before God and give an account of their lives. Awards such as Grammys may represent extraordinary success in the eyes of the world, but they cannot replace genuine knowledge of God or a life devoted to Him. Her message is a powerful reminder that public recognition may define a career, but private character reveals the person and eternity is not measured by applause.
