When David was preparing to become king, God did not only prepare his throne; He prepared his heart.
Before God entrusted him with great responsibility, He dealt with the man David was becoming.

Marriage is no different. We often pray for the right partner, a peaceful home, and a beautiful marriage, but God is also interested in who we are becoming before we enter or build that marriage.

A good marriage cannot be sustained by attraction alone. It needs character.
It needs patience when things don't go your way.

It needs self-control when you're angry.
It needs kindness when you feel misunderstood.
It needs forgiveness when someone gets it wrong.

The Bible says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith…”— Galatians 5:22–23.

And Ephesians 4:2 reminds us to walk “with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.”

As we continue our Relationship and Marriage Academy 2026 — KNITTED TOGETHER, we are reminded that building a godly marriage begins with allowing God to build us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OUR DEAR PASTOR!

Today, we pause to celebrate a life that has been a blessing to the body of Christ and to the Insight Bible Church family.

We are grateful to God for the gift of Pst. Chris Benjamin, for his dedication to God’s work.

As you celebrate another year today, Pastor, may the Lord continue to strengthen you, increase you in wisdom and grace, and cause His light to shine even brighter through your life and ministry.

May this new year bring you greater impact, fresh oil, renewed strength, divine preservation, and abundant joy.

There was a couple in the Bible whose names were almost always mentioned together.

Aquila and Priscilla. They worked together. They served together. They opened their home to the work of God. Even when Scripture mentions them, they often appear as a team.

Paul called them his “fellow workers in Christ Jesus.” — Romans 16:3

Their story reminds us that marriage is more than sharing a house. It is about remaining connected through the different seasons of life.

And life changes. Children come. Responsibilities multiply. Work becomes demanding. The home gets busy.

Before long, conversations can become only about school fees, meals, homework, work schedules and the children’s needs.

And somewhere along the way, husband and wife can become great parents, but stop being great companions.

When was the last time you and your spouse simply enjoyed each other?

When did you last talk, not about the children, but about you?
How do you find your friendship again?

How do you reconnect when the children have taken so much of your attention?

Topic: Understanding God’s Blueprint for Marriage

God designed marriage for companionship, unity and shared purpose. “It is not good that the man should be alone” (Genesis 2:18), and His desire is that husband and wife become “one flesh” (Genesis 2:24).

A strong marriage must be built on Christ, the firm foundation (Matthew 7:24–25; 1 Corinthians 3:11), and sustained by love, mutual submission, communication, forgiveness, humility and friendship (Ephesians 5:21, 25; Colossians 3:13; Philippians 2:3–4).

Being knitted together means understanding our differences, complementing one another, growing together and facing life’s challenges together in Christ (Genesis 2:18; 1 Corinthians 16:13).

Above all, couples must allow the Holy Spirit to lead their marriage (Galatians 5:16), trusting God and His Word as they build their home and future together.

This is God’s blueprint: two people, one purpose, one flesh, and Christ at the centre.
