NBA OLEH BRANCH LEADERSHIP VISITS ISOKO NORTH CHAIRMAN, SEEKS PARTNERSHIP
OZORO, DELTA STATE — The newly elected executives of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Oleh Branch, led by Timothy Agbaragbu, Esq., have paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Isoko North, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba.
The delegation commended Ogorugba’s leadership and ongoing development efforts across the local government.
Receiving the executives, the Chairman congratulated them on their election and pledged the Council’s partnership with the NBA on legal awareness, public education and advocacy.
Ogorugba stressed that greater public understanding of the law could help reduce crime and protect residents from exploitation.

CONSTITUENCY RESTORATION: OKPOBOR CALLS FOR UNITY IN IYEDE
IYEDE, DELTA STATE — DESOPADEC Executive Director, Chief Kome Okpobor, has called for unity among the people of Iyede following the restoration of Isoko North Constituency II.
Okpobor spoke when APC leaders from Iyede Ward 1 visited him to appreciate his role in the restoration of the constituency.
He described the development as a collective achievement and acknowledged the contributions of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, First Lady Tobore Oborevwori, Prince Godwin Ogorugba and other stakeholders.
He urged Iyede people to put the collective interest of the kingdom above political differences.
The delegation later presented Okpobor with a framed appreciation gift.

OY EDE OVIE APPROVES NEW TRADITIONAL COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS
OYEDE, ISOKO NORTH — The Ovie of Oyede Kingdom, HRM Sir Engr. Goodnews G. Agbi, Ph.D., FNSE, FNICE, FNIStructE, FIPND, KSJI, Athuaro 1, has approved new appointments into the Oyede Traditional Council with immediate effect.
The appointments are:
Otota of Oyede: Chief Apa Itesah — retained in office.
Secretary, Traditional Council: Chief Orowo Ibagere.
Chief of Staff/Chief de Affairs: Chief Albert Ipori.
Public Relations Officer (PRO): Hon. Fejiro Frank Malaka.
The appointments form part of the monarch's effort to strengthen the traditional council and ensure effective administration of the kingdom.
The newly appointed officials are expected to support the palace in promoting peace, unity, culture and development across Oyede Kingdom.

2027: ONOJAEME MOBILISES OZORO GROUPS FOR TINUBU, OBOREVWORI, APC CANDIDATES
OZORO, DELTA STATE — Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, has called on APC supporters and community groups in Ozoro to mobilise ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Onojaeme made the call on Sunday, August 9, during a political meeting hosted at the residence of former Ozoro Kingdom President-General, Hon. Miller Akpoili.
The meeting brought together members of the Isoko United Forum, Ajagwayena Charity Foundation, Ozoro Council of Princes and Princesses, Ozoro Vigilante Group and APC supporters from the three federal wards in Ozoro.
Onojaeme urged the groups to work for the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other APC candidates across the various constituencies.
Hon. Miller Akpoili, who commended the Commissioner for attending the meeting, said the gathering demonstrated growing political engagement among community groups in Ozoro.

OYEDE MONARCH MOVES TO RESTORE PEACE, INAUGURATES RECONCILIATION COMMITTEE AND VIGILANTE GROUP
OYEDE, DELTA STATE — The Ovie of Oyede Kingdom, HRM Engr. Sir Goodnews Goodman Agbi, PhD, FNSE, FNICE, FNISTRUCTE, Athuaro I, has taken fresh steps to strengthen peace and security across the kingdom.
At a stakeholders' meeting at the royal palace, the monarch inaugurated an Oyede Peace and Reconciliation Committee, headed by Chief Apar Enakeno Itesah, former Chairman of Isoko North Local Government and Clan Otota of Oyede Kingdom.
The committee is expected to engage aggrieved parties and work towards resolving the ongoing Ovie/Odiologbo disagreement.
The monarch also inaugurated the Oyede Vigilante Group, led by Mr. Oghogho Ogomi, with about 30 members drawn from communities across the kingdom.
The group, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, is expected to support efforts to maintain peace, security and order in Oyede.
The Ovie and the Divisional Police Officer urged the vigilante members to see their responsibility as a call to service and advised residents to maintain peace.

DENNIS OSADEBAY UNIVERSITY VC JOINS NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON NIGERIA'S GOVERNANCE
The Vice-Chancellor of Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, Professor Samuel Aghalino, participated as a discussant at the maiden Professor Sam Oyovbaire Public Service Lecture, where experts examined challenges confronting governance and public administration in Nigeria.
The lecture, themed "Federal Statecraft Without Crafters: The Nigerian Predicament," brought together academics, policymakers, traditional rulers and professionals to discuss practical solutions for strengthening leadership, public institutions and national development.

ONE MONTH AFTER OIL WELL BLOWOUT, UZERE RESIDENTS CRY OUT AS ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS WORSENS

More than one month after the oil well blowout at Well 14, OML 30 in Uzere, Isoko South Local Government Area, residents say the environmental disaster remains unresolved, with growing fears over its impact on farmlands, rivers and livelihoods.

Community leaders said crude oil, sludge and gas continue to escape from the damaged wellhead, while many farmers have been unable to access their farms because of safety concerns. They also warned that the approaching flood season could spread pollution to more communities if the situation is not brought under control.

Residents are calling on Heritage Energy, regulatory agencies and the relevant authorities to urgently contain the blowout, clean up the affected environment and provide support for families whose livelihoods have been disrupted. Meanwhile, officials say containment efforts are ongoing.
