I don’t usually tell this story… but today feels right. 🖤

His parents were my friends.
We met in high school. Grew up together. Dreamed together.
Life felt endless back then.

One evening, I was babysitting him.
He was just 1 year old.
That night, I got the call that changed everything;
a car accident.
They didn’t make it.

I held him while the world fell apart.

I didn’t plan to become a mother that way.
But love doesn’t always come with a warning… it just shows up and stays.

He’s 6 now.
Still curious. Still gentle. Still full of light.
And somehow, he healed parts of me I didn’t even know were broken.

From hospital halls to adoption papers.
From bedtime stories to passport stamps.
Now we travel the world, laugh loudly, dress up for Halloween,
and make memories his parents would be proud of.

Family isn’t always blood.
Sometimes it’s love that refuses to let go. 🤍

And I’ll keep choosing him.
Every single day.
